It also likely sets the price point for the 60Kwh Leaf "E-plus" due next year....

 

But it does show the premium you pay for big batteries,

 

If you are looking for a SUV and its going to spend most of its time in town, the 2019 Outlander PHEV (50km EV range), just had a 8K price reduction and must now be a serious contender, The top spec version is now 56K, so the lower spec must be near 50K?

Anyone know the cost of the smaller battery Kona?May be similar price to the new Leaf. If they import the smaller battery Kona in here I  believe there will be  people who don't want the New Leaf for one reason or another and opt for the Kona.

It's a rort.  All this does is push the supporting infrastructure demand for EVs further down the road, which slows uptake, which delays infrastructure, which slows uptake.....and so on

I agree, even as a person who isn't particularly enamoured with EVs so far ... I'd like to see EVs become cheaper, rangier, chargier, prettier vehicles. 

 

I agree the demand generated by proliferation of EVs in real numbers would stimulate the provision of infrastructure.

That's interesting,for sure.Just spoken to Hyundai and the lady said they should be arriving in September.Only could confirm the pricing on the bigger battery version and not able to say if the 39kwh Kona will be available.

The main notables are bigger touchscreen, Electric seats (inc heating and cooling,), LED head lights, Front park assist, Lane follow assist and a heads up display...-  

 

5K sounds steep, but if you have 75K to splurge on a new car, you can probably push the boat out for 5K more....

 

158mm is pretty much the same as a Civic or Corolla, not low, but it reinforces that this is very much a "soft roader"  SUV

You can't have a 39kwh version for a while, ( I'm guessing at least 6 months)
