The scooters have invaded Mosgiel; so after work I must give it a try on the flat

Does anyone know what happens when you run out of credit and don't have auto recharge on your account - does the Scooter just stop working or does your account go into negative balance?

They start bleeping and you need to "end your ride" on the app.

Happened when my kids were using up the last of my credit on the Lime app one weekend.

Batman: Legal to take and keep in US may or may not apply here?

The ones that people are converting in the US are ones that have been found and handed in to police who then notify the company to come and get them and if they don't after a certain amount of time they are auctioned off along with all the other lost-and-found items. Apparently this happens a lot, maybe it's not worth the company's time to collect them from the police?

Have you seen the oceans of share-a-ride bicycles in China?

Wow, that's crazy! I'll hold off buying a bike or scooter and maybe score a free one if the same thing happens here.

Doubt it. China has a problem of copycat get rich schemes. If one person gets rich doing something, 0.1% will copy it. That means 1 million others will do the same. It could be anything from making ride share bikes to building property. Cost of manufacture is cheap. Won't happen here.

Ah now they're doing burnouts with the Lime. I wonder if someone can drift it next.

Batman: Ah now they're doing burnouts with the Lime. I wonder if someone can drift it next.

If they had done their homework (read: walked around the christchurch limes and locations) they would have seen they were performed on day dot, just not stolen from FB until now to make more light of the story.

Some of the decks are even missing griptape due to someone else putting the front tyre of a 2nd one up on it and letting rip

And the ground is covered in skidmarks (closest thing to drifting the end out) and at one point dongpics at a childrens playground on the polished concrete, and burnout marks. Not much else is that small and easily stripped.

They come treaded, but 80% are now bald in chc so the ride is even worse for anyone else.

I see that the University area is now a red zone, much like the Botanical Gardens is in Christchurch

Baldwin St and the Dunedin Gardens is a grey area - not sure if that's going to be a red area that hasn't quite made it to a red area yet or something else.

Anyone from places that have Lime Scooters already know what happens when you take a Lime into a red or grey area - I assume you can't ..

Says No Parking on the app. Repeatedly parking may lead to fine or suspension of account

Can't speak from direct experience, but I had hoped they would shut down and end your ride/start beeping. But no

I believe it allows you to traverse the zones, but not stop or end your hire in the area.

Gardens started after a few (ok, a lot) ended up as tree ornaments and went for a swim in the small lakes present.

I see there's now an accident being reported in the "news" from Dunners  - Truck vs Lime.

Appears a young lady was Liming at about 2am and was hit by a truck...here I was thinking that they all got juiced overnight and were impossible to find after 9.30pm.
