I have a near new Suzuki UK110 scooter, and today I noticed while inspecting for punctures in rear wheel while on centre stand (before riding), that the rear wheel was binding.

As in 3/4 turn would go freely, then firm resistance that extra 1/4.

Thought it may be brakes dragging a little. Took it out for a ride to work the brakes and get some heat into things, and when stopped was still the same.

Won't be able to get into a shop for several weeks, and not really finding anything useful on the net, thought someone here might have some experience or insight into what it could be? Cheers.

When you have a piston. And it's sealed in a cylinder block. And you crank the chain around moving said piston up to the compression phase

If there is no exhaust valve opening, or kaboom to push it back down again. The air at the top gets rather hard to move :)

I may be off the mark. But quite a likely scenario.

Probably suspect this is normal for a rev and go moped, you will have some free play before the cvt gearbox takes up the drive
