good game, could have gone either way up till the 70+th minute, when the ABs camped in the Boks' 22 (like what 80% of the game they were weren't they), the game was won, there was no way the tired Boks were working 90m to score.

in fact the Boks were lying on the ground (from fatigue) since about the 56th minute! not sure how the score was so close in the end, but the Vitor Matfield gamble didn't work, when he came on they went backwards not forwards. But they have no choice, their squad were being depleted from day 1, and down to 3rd 4th choice people.

At this time of the tournament a win is a win. South Africa was typically brave and the conditions suited them. Our discipline did get exposed though, it wasn't great against France either.

The most interesting thing for me was after we won the last World Cup I was able to enjoy this game being close and how well South Africa's played.

That match was very tight , much better effort from the ABs in the second half , i am okay with getting up at 3.30 am for that result laughing

Messy game but I guess effective. That last past from Nonu to Barrett looked forward to me, so lucky to get away with that...

The Springboks never once looked like scoring a try.  They bought very little to the game other than physicality, especially on defence. It was only our ill-discipline that kept them in the match.

It was 10 vs 10. Our 10 was in control nailing them in their own corner in the 22 the whole game all day long. Their 10 was out of his depth and was only there to kick penalties gained by their forwards. I'd like to see the Territory and possession tally. Seemed like 80% and 60% to us.

Haha it's knockout vs SA what do you think. They lifted their defence big time, but toothless on attack and unable to clear with any of their kicks not a single one.

Imagine if he let JPP get on the with the intercept try before taking to TMO, that would make it more fun but i still think we would have won. But maybe not.

Yeah i thought so too after seeing the replay immediately after.

Edit just watched the replay right now the touch judge was right there and called it a line pass. TMO kept quiet. Who was the TMO :p

You're definitely wrong 😬 Carter didn't play against Namibia.

The kicking game didnt work well enough.  We had great territory but would kick away our best chances.  The wingers were out of the game due to this but clearly thta was the plan because they frequently were out of position.

Keriann Read AGAIN.  Two maul penaltys, how dumb do you have to be?  Then we have clear scrum ball, he decides to hold it in in, knocks it on.  Results in 3 points against us.  His form bar tackling and lineouts has been poor.  Tonight reinforced that.

Carter was lateral in the first half.  Improved on attack in the second.  He is very inconstant.  A real shame Barrett keeps being required on the wing or full back and hasnt been given a chance to offer his off-the-bench attacking prowess in the number 10 spot.

It was an ugly, ugly game.

I thought New Zealand and DC played well. Loved the game, a classic old fashioned knockout. Much better than Eden Park 2011. They never got near our 22 let alone our try line. I can't see how much better you can get in a semi.

Kicking into the corner for territory to pin them back is obviously instructions from up high. It's just that Barrett's one hung around longer. But unfortunately that one was too low for a big man, you needed a NNS/Habana to catch that one.

I can't comment on the penalties given away. I am never sure which way the ref calls the tackle area. A mystery to me.

What i can comment on is we stole their lineout and that's a big win. But NNS was exposed big time under the high ball. But that's the way it is. Jonah Lomu was the worst. If a bomb goes his way the full back had to come to mop up the ball and give away a scrum so we don't concede the try.

It was. Not much rugby, just kick it away, go up the middle. We played two teams, SA and ourselves, trying to keep our rugby scored points ahead of penalty after penalty given away. AB's beat SA and AB's
