that is different than saying rugby players deserve a Knighthood

I think Rugby plays such a massive part of NZ (Even if not for you personally), and RM especially has been such a massive part of it, as well as an exemplary role model (Can you think of another, his equal over the past 10 years) during that whole time, that his contributions to NZ should be honoured in a significant way. Right or wrong, one of those ways we acknowledge people, is with knighthoods.

I think at his age it's too early, but I suspect he will turn it down for right now, and I see him contributing on an ongoing basis one way or another.

The only part of Carter's game that was missing prior to this tournament was drop goals. Sure made up for that in the last couple of weeks.
I wish interviewers wouldn't keep trying to make McCaw announce his retirement. While it is a pinnacle to go out on, I really wanted to see him get to 150 tests. The next regular Captain sure has big boots to fill and probably shouldn't be compared.

After the disappointment of the cricket and netball, falling to the same foe, it is great to get the big one.

Dingbatt: What a game. Just when I was getting comfortable, Smith gets sin-binned and Aussie almost catch up. So up goes the heart rate. The TMO input after Nigel Owens had decided on only a penalty, disappointed me a bit, especially when some of the aussie foul play went unpunished or only a penalty (a late tackle and a high shot on Carter by Seo to name just two).
It's easy to say now but I'm really glad it wasn't decided by a scrum or ruck penalty (or a rolling maul).

Yeah what a game. Although I do feel Bens yellow was justified. He did lift his arms to show sorry/I backed out, but he didn't back out, he lifted ad drove him, so fair enough

networkn: I was impressed with Stephen Moores Speech, I am not his biggest fan but he took that like a man.

Not so impressed with his boss though! He did look inconsolable. I was expecting better from him honestly.

I agree on both of your comments. Im also glad we got the last try as 34-17 is representative of the game

My assessment.

We did more when we had possession. Ball skills were high. We ran the ball on the basis that we are better than you running it, so we will run it, let the stats do their job. Errors I could count on one hand. A faultless performance in all aspects of the game.

I can't criticise Oz. They defended, they tried, but over 80 minutes, their game is two levels behind ours.

Edit: And the game wasn't decided on run of the green, dodgy this or that. What you see on the scoreboard is how the game went. Best side won

The Aussies look spent last week. This week they could barely run. The score was probably so close like it was because the ABs weren't fresh either. DC told the ref at 54 mins that he was too tired to kick a penalty! The difference this time compared to some matches was the ref didn't blow penalty every 2 mins and allowed some rugby to be played! Maybe the final should have a 10 day break and access to a hyperbaric oxygen chamber leading to it!

I also liked the change up. Forego two early kicks to take play to the Oz line. That shows intent, something to add to the game that the Ozzies have to second guess. And a few other times that AB's did something different. Psychology. Its also a mental games. Ups to SH for being tactically excellent

We're not going to agree here but to me honours are an acknowledgement of people who are truly excellent and are example of what can be achieved.

This does and should include sport, business, art and charitable works. It's a broad church and should be inclusive of the diverse nature of a country, not just one small part of it. While many rugby heads may not have had a clue about who Dame Malvina Major it doesn't mean she wasn't deserving of acknowledgement.

So they want to give Pocock player of the year?

Best they check this out?

Interesting the Aussie media thought it reasonable to call Mccaw a grub?

I am struggling with Rod Kafer, I used to like the guy but everytime he opens his mouth these days...

Apparently the "ONLY right decision" on Ben Smiths Tackle which earned him a Yellow Card, was actually a RED card.

He's about as neutral and factual as Grant Nisbett and Justin Marshall. He's commentating for the Australian audience just take it for what it is. Also who really cares.

Well I'd say that was pretty unfair comparing GB + JM to RK!
