Former AB's coach John Mitchell to coach the US Eagles.

Personally I don't think he could coach a team to get out of a wet paper bag, but hey. His time with the AB's was disgraceful.

Hard to know if the issue is Boudhellal or the 3 players themselves!

I read that this morning, I did think to myself that I wasn't surprised. Ma'a did great work for the All Blacks, not so much for anyone else (remember the Hurricanes didn't want him then all the drama with Sir JK when he reneged on the Blues). I think he needs good coaching and motivation. I imagine (in his defence) it would be hard to get up there for a French Club team after you've just won your second World Cup.
As for Quade Cooper - I imagine he is the same sort of player, the talent is there - it is the channeling of that talent.
Tom Taylor - wasn't an AB for long - maybe the AB coaches saw in him what Toulon are now?

It is no secret these guys are going there for the cash, not to further their rugby playing careers, so I do not know what the French owners expect?

I agree with your comments mostly I guess. Moving to a place where English isn't your first language and it's a complete cultural shock, good support would critical. It's apparent that DC is getting a lot of care and it shows in how quickly he is integrating and playing well.

I agree that 2 of those 3 players mentioned probably need "more" support and stronger coaches and who knows if that is happening. Also things like team makeup. I know for a fact that MN has a strong dislike of QC (in fact all AB's in general despite protests to the contrary).

I am surprised about TT, but who knows. I unfortunately don't see any of them staying in France, I'll be glad if TT comes back, and rejoins the Crusaders, I think he is a class player.

Is there any way to watch the first weeks matchups in SR16 preseason. Keen to see Crusaders play reds, and highlanders play racing 92.

Wicked! I have no wife and kids this weekend. I have movies, rugby, xcom2, good eating, no kids, and a sleep in for 4 days!

Simple, we do it for each other twice a year. It's good to get some "me" time. I have a new game to play, they are staying at our place in Whangamata, and I opted to stay home.

5 months ago she spent a weekend in Wellington for a Conference and stayed a couple of extra days, and I looked after the kids.

Interesting results in the preseason games. Crusaders got thrashed last night, still looking for the "highlights" video of that game. Blues beat the Chiefs and look so much better. Nice to see AC running at full speed and looking more like his good old self. Kaino with a red card! I am not entirely convinced it was deliberate, but it was a strike and had to be red. Despite that they still won! Their fullback looks fantastic as does Akira.

Wow, seriously, WOW. What a game between the Blues and the Highlanders. Could have gone either way. Stunning tries. 44 Points in 40 minutes. Blues look promising, I wonder if they can be consistently that good?

If this is the calibre of the games to come, this may be one of the best seasons ever.

Rene Ranger looked dangerous, but too inconsistent for my books, too random, 2 forward passes, that had they of not been forward may well have lead to tries.

Fekitoa looks SO fast in this game, but I still feel he moves his feet too much not going anywhere! I think he looks the fastest I've ever seen him, maybe lost some weight?

Well what a hiding the Hurricanes got! I actually feel annoyed at them for playing so poorly after their last season. They are trying too hard and trying wide too early without earning it. So many mistakes! I guess every team can have an off week but they don't look to have ANY structure to their play. Yet again Julian Savea has come back from Xmas break fat and out of shape. I'd be pretty unhappy if I was SH and co.

Unbelievable to me that the Brumbies didn't end up with 4 yellow (or 3 and a red) cards as well. The ref seemed incapable of finding his cards, even the Australian commentators were horrified. Pocock should have seen the bin within 30 minutes, and again 30 minutes later. His refusal to release the player in the tackle before competing for the ball is outright cheating.

Stephen Moore and Pocock got away with murder in their arguing with the ref. I seriously doubt any other ref would have put up with that.

It's pretty clear NMS has been analysed. I'll be pretty surprised if he gets away with a second season on fire like last.

Here's hoping for significant improvement next week.

Well done to the Chiefs who like so many teams this year have to significantly rebuild. Their impact off the bench was good. Disappointing to see so many holes in the Crusaders defense. McKenzie was awesome. I thought there were a number of forward passes not picked up, not just in this game, but a few across all games. Cruden looks pretty good, nice to see him recovery from that horror injury.

The Sunwolves v Lions was entertaining. I don't think the Sunwolves look too bad. Their attack lacks sting but their ball handling and tackling was excellent. I am looking forward to seeing more.
