I do consider Barrett a 10 (But a utility 10 rather than a specialist 10), and certainly a better 10 than a 15, though he is good in both places. I also think he would be handy on the wing.

Do you consider Barrett the best 10 in the country at the moment?  If so does that make him a utility 10 because he can play somewhere else, and therefore not worthy of a start?

Was Dan Carter a utility 10?  He played quite a bit at 12 during his career.

The AB's have not traditionally played 2 specialist 10's in their 23. It's usually specialist 10 to start and utility 10 off the bench, at least for the past quite a number of years.

This is 100% incorrect. The All blacks always have two specialist fly halves/goal kickers in their squad - anyone remember Steven Donald in 2011? It's just in the last couple of years that it's been Barrett who has another dimension to his play.

I wasn't aware McAlister was a specialist 10, I thought he played 10, 12 and played some 15 too. Slade wasn't a Specialist 10, he played Wing, and Fullback, and Halfback from time to time. I thought BB played full back first esp at school and switched to 10.

If I'm wrong, I obviously stand corrected.

I wonder whether they still need to save a place for SBW after he was stretchered off at the Olympics this morning.

On a more serious note, i wonder if that means the other guy who bitterly missed out on selection will be called out from whitebaiting to fly to Rio. Not much time to adjust though.

6-8 months rehab.

Someone will be getting called into the AB's squad - maybe Tamanivalu/Ngatai.  Good for either of them - bad for the Naki whichever they go with.

From what I understand (Beaver aside) Liam Messam is the only travelling reserve, so they will have to complete the tournament (that could be over after the next game of they don't win it) with one less in their squad as they are two players down.

Edit : Strike that. It appears Messam is not allowed to join the squad.

I'm assuming this is sarcasm. You seem to respond to my posts often with this aggressive tone, perhaps if you have something to get off your chest you can PM me and we can discuss it like reasonable adults?

I am more than happy if you wish to post information that proves me wrong, despite your previous assertions, I am quite willing to change my mind if the facts support it.

At the very least I am not 100% wrong as you originally asserted.

That wasn't nice news to wake up to this morning. I feel for the guy.

Why isn't he allowed to join?

I thought like 15's you can replace any injured player in a tournament?

Edit: Wondering if it's you can only replace players with non-travelling reserves BEFORE the tournament starts.

We had a bad day today, apparently the equestrian and some of our rowing is a bust.

Practically I am unsure how it would work. Even if he got on a plane this second, he would arrive and pretty much have to walk on the field right?
