Yeah the "can't touch me, because I just jumped up in the air" is a bit precious. Not from a high kick ball or line out, just jumped when you went to tackle me.

SBW deserve his red card. Keeps the series alive. That we weren't a push over, with one guy off for the whole game, is impressive.

That was a relief that the series is alive going to next week!

Man the BIL really tried really hard to lose for about 50 mins this time, then suddenly woke up when they were both at 14 men, and then pulled away when they were back at 15v14.

That's how I saw it anyway. Which is good, that means next week's game is worth watching. Hopefully the Lions want to win next week, otherwise it will be another steamroll with 15 vs 15.

Boring game, in that we have two top sides getting penalties, thats it. BIL were poor discipline to give away so many points, after they were told to have discipline.

But they scored two tries to 0 and that covered their poor discipline. AB's looked dangerous at times but they never looked like getting on a roll. Line have showed they can run the ball, and they showed it again. Yes a player up for part of the match, but they got the first try on even numbers. Had a sneaky wager on BIL as last week they showed that that game could have gone either way had they not squandered so many opportunities, but Im surprised that they did it again penalty wise and got 2-0 tries. Marketing wise AB's win next week, that always seems to happen, but BIL can play, and having  different game style means its not just about the best team, its the best execution of their game that will matter

Not the whole game, but a lot of it. BIL scored when that wasn't the case.Yeah, its an advantage for sure, but its not like they were 3 players down from 15, its 1 down from 15. Plus the game being kick it away all th time rather than running, dilutes that disadvantage IMO

When the performance difference between the top ten teams in the world is probably only 5%, losing 6% of your manpower makes a huge difference. The ABs have relied for years on putting their opponents to the sword in the final quarter through superior endurance and super subs. There was nothing left in the tank because of the extra effort covering the missing man.
Having watched the replay, I am even more adamant that Vunipola should have suffered the same punishment as SBW. He deliberately targeted Barrett's head. And the swinging arm on Naholo that concussed him wasn't even re-examined let alone punished. Taylor's late charge on Farrell went unpunished, Vunipola's on Barrett was penalised. I wonder if Vunipola was given the task of targeting Barrett? Or whether he came up with the idea himself.
George Ayoub needs to be either all in, or stay right out of it. He seems to have been quite selective in what he reviews over and above what is requested by the ref.
Trying.....not.......to........blame........the.......officials.....

Not much so far in the British press about AB thuggery, but I guess the likes of Stephen Jones will chime in eventually, conveniently forgetting about the other incidents, punished and unpunished.

SBW had led with his shoulder in tackles (rugby league style) for a long time. I'm surprised he hasn't been pinged for it multiple times in the past.

I feel rugby should take a leaf out of tennis, multiple refs and multiple options, especially with so many on the field. The ideal is to grab every infringement, hence taking the refs out of the game.

Just my opinion, if it was a dry running game, the red card would have mattered a lot more, but thats just conjecture. I feel that these AB's arent the best team in decades as it often stated in the media, and the Lions are better than what many feel, hence the last two games, if you look at opportunities were both close.

Yes the Lions won, but I think Gatland and co will be very worried.

They played a good 2/3 of the game with a one man advantage and were only able to win off a highly contentious penalty with a few minutes remaining. A legitimate penalty by the rule book maybe, but a shocking loophole that will need to be fixed.

Glad to see that Sean O'Brien had been cited for his swinging arm contacting the jaw of Naholo, having met the threshold for a red card. Pity they didn't see fit to examine it during the game, and it was shown multiple times on the coverage. Because that would have put the Lions down to 13 men as Vunipola was on the naughty chair at the time.

But, no punishment. I expect they looked and decided it was probably a yellow on the field, and so a suspension may have been out of line with the offence (it clearly wasn't the same as Vunipola / SBW)

Vunipola appeared to hit the chest momentarily before the head. I don't think it helped that  Garces seemed unable to hear the TMO at times.

I just don't see how it's in the laws to dive at the player to clear them our of the ruck. All teams do it, but you are supposed to bind on to the ruck first, so instantly when a player is on the ground he's out of the ruck, or when they come in with a shoulder

I see three problems: -

1) Off his feet

2) Lead with forearm.

3) Deliberate with apparent intent to injure (as per SBW shoulder)

But never mind.  We have learned that when we are a man down, the weather suits the liens and the ref is doing his sponsor proud, the lion can beat us.

Hopefully we will only have the spec-savers factor to deal with next week.

Maybe the ABs shouldn't have humiliated France so badly at the last RWC.

And you can't tell me that 4 weeks for SBW but nothing for O'Brien or Vunipola is promoting the protection of player's heads. No problem with SBW's punishment btw.

Yeah, was EPIC. Really amazing. I really missed not watching the Lions play though I must admit.

Europe is amazing, though it's moderately dangerous and the feeling there is ... wary to say the least. When I am over my Jetlag I'll post some stuff.

The two concerts we went for, Celine Dion and Phil Collins both exceeded our high expectations which was nice.

Yeah, lots of Pickpockets, scammers, and while we were there, there were 3 terror attacks.

I caught a pickpocket red handed.
