I didn't relax once during that game, even with 8 minutes to go, I thought, the Highlanders have the attacking skill to score so easily, thankfully the Crusaders defense was just so strong. They played magnificently for the conditions. I would prefer to play the Stormers next Saturday for many reasons.

I'd love to see a Crusaders Lions Final.

Really? You must be nervous. The Highlanders were never in it. They did try, but never in the game. Must have left it in Dunedin this morning.

How many times have the landers come back from 17 points behind to win? Usually within 20-30 minutes. Probably wasn't going to happen, but It's not over till it's over.

The Crusaders are overdue for a title would be nice to see some love for them! They have done awesome this year. I hadn't exactly written them off after losing so many good players, but I expected less of them this year than previously. I wonder what it would have been like if Nadolo had stayed ? :)

Jack Goodhue looks the part at 13, and I wouldn't be upset if Dagg stayed on the wing and Havilli was the first choice fullback. They looked better like that, and that's how they should have been last week against the canes. Seta should have played center.

I was watching as a Lander fan, but also quite neutral as I'm usually capably of. I thought the Landers were spent going into the last 20 and no chance of putting 17 points when you're tired AND the pitch was the way it was.

I do not recall any team travelling across continents who have won the super final. So it's pretty much a given whoever travels from SA or from NZ will lose the final.

So:  Lions - Canes, Crusaders - Chiefs. A lot of travelling to be had!

Good Lord! You mean the Lions have to face a NZ team before they get to their home final! How unfair.......

The conditions in last night's game looked dire. Time for an indoor stadium Christchurch.

For Networkn's sake: The Canes could do the Crusaders a favour by beating the Lions, the Crusaders should beat the Chiefs, and then Crusaders would win the final.

It is a bit more unclear if you get a Lions - Crusaders final ... but that would really favour the Lions. Travel inter-continental more than once = sure lose. Travel inter-continental once ... a bit unclear.

Let's see if anyone manages to conquer jet lag as I predict they wouldn't based on history and biology.

Actually, if the Canes lose to the Lions, a somewhat unlikely situation, AND the Crusaders beat the Chiefs, then the Crusaders would need to travel to Jo'burg to see the Lions in the Final. Having said that, both the Lions and the Crusaders would have had to travel.

If the Lions were smart, I think they would option to stay in NZ for the final to the Crusaders, they would have the best chance then.

I'd back the Crusaders to Travel to SA to win against the lions given the Lions have to travel twice and I'd overall say that the Crusuders have the better set piece and forwards.

Why would the Lions travel? The Lions are the home team for the whole playoffs as they finished first.

Right, my mistake, I thought for some reason they were coming here for the 'canes. NM

This makes no sense :)

Just watched the replay of Lions-Chiefs. If the Chiefs play that helter-skelter rugby and drop that much ball against the Crusaders they will get owned big time.
Hope the Hurricanes can get up against the Lions. Then at least the final won't be in the middle of the night.

I also need to say how pathetic Cane's yellow card was. Both he and Leach hit the Stormers winger at the same height and the winger leant his head towards Cane. Shoulder to shoulder contact that glanced into his lowered chin. Peyper was right that it was at the most a penalty.
Just as pathetic was awarding a penalty against the Stormers for tackling McKenzie in the air when he jumped at the last minute to receive a pass. Luckily he landed safely otherwise the Stormers player would have been unjustly carded.
Not Peyper's fault in either case. The (rugby) law really is an ass sometimes.

The Highlander's (14?) yellow card in the 5th min was also lame I thought. He tried to tackle the Cantab 10 and his arm's momentum meant the arm kept going and touched 10. 10 was floored by a legal tackle but 14 was yellow carded for a travelling arm! If 10 was floored by something illegal then you can say it's bad. But the ref said the tackle that floored 10 was legal!

Heh, interesting, it thought it was entirely deserved, he swung AND followed through with a downward push, he was intending to level him right from the word go, and if you watch his body language during the ref and TMO it was clear to me he knew what was coming.
