Even if you take SBW out of the penalty try equation, I believe the French player who 'would' have scored the try, was ahead of the kicker and as such should have been ruled offside.

Well, that was an interesting game to say the least. I thought both teams threw everything at it. Liam Squire definately looks the goods. It was TKB's best game in black easily. The Forwards largely fronted up. Havilli looks assured on the whole, esp under the high ball, where I think we have been pretty average as a team for at least a year.

Jack Goodhue had a mixed game he deserved that yellow and it could have cost us the game.

We are still tackling too high. We need to stop forcing passes as well.

Overall there is a lot to like about that win, and I was proud of the AB's for holding on under pressure.

Early defense looked average but got better and better as they went on.

ABs vs Scotland.
Sometimes the team that deserves to win, doesn't. Such was the case in this game. Scotland with most of the possession and territory came a close second.
It was a game of moments. Scottish knock ons with the try line in sight. The TMO's intervention to prevent Naholo's yellow card. SBW with a magic grubber kick two games in a row. And Barrett's last ditch tackle to prevent the equalising try at the death.
Where I think Sam Cane has yet to meet the skill of the man he has replaced (McCaw), is knowing when not to go for the 50/50 play at the breakdown. The ABs now have the reputation with international referees of cynical penalties in the red zone (IMO).
And Crockett's yellow was just plain stupid. When he came on, I said to my wife "Here comes the penalty magnet." And so it came to pass. The coaching team must be considering risk vs reward in his case.
SBW had a good game. They are still missing the world's number one lock.

Yes, it was an exciting game which gave NZ a win, what more could you want?

The fact that the All Blacks are finding it harder and harder to get a narrow win doesn't matter, a win is a win.

Steve Hansen is full of praise for his team and so he should be. But you have to wonder whether the rest of the world has finally caught up with us and that the All Blacks aren't so awesome any more!

In the England v Australia game, around the 66th minute where they went back for the penalty, I think it was the one to get them to 6 points, anyway definitely in the 66th minute. The Australians were playing under advantage obviously, and there was like a grubbed kick through with foley chasing dead certain to get a try however the English player came across and kicked the ball dead (from the field of play) referee and tmo never picked it up, should have been a penalty try and the whole game would have changed. Anyone else pick up on this?

The ABs peaked for the year in their game against SA in Albany. It's a shame (or maybe lucky) they don't get to play England on this tour.
Smith seemed a bit off form this week and I don't think Barrett was firing on all cylinders either.
The high tackle rulings were a bit bemusing, some punished, while others just as agregious (or innocuous), missed completely.

Wales next week could be interesting.

I watched the game but don't recall the action you speak of. But it isn't an infringement to kick the ball dead, either from the in goal or open field, is it? Certainly different from what SBW did last week by propelling it dead with his hands.

Just looked up the rule book, and yes you’re correct only with your hands is illegal (you learn something new everyday haha)

Just like SBW did last week!

Compared to previous years the loose forward trio is no where as good as it has been before. Blindside flanker position is very weak at the moment, neither have the tight skills needed for international rugby.

And the tight five is a second string one with only 1 first stringer there.

The back defence of the opposition is so much better now also which means most tries come from turnovers and off the cuff plays which is why the All Blacks still win the close ones.

As a fan who had great fun watching the AB's in 2016 as they trounced every team, it's been hard to watch us play poorly by comparison. Having said that we are blooding a *lot* of new talent and we are still winning every game (bar 2 obviously). I trust SH, he's a smart man, and I think they have a plan, even if that plan is taking longer to get where they want it.

What is it with our 6's making massive breaks and then not passing the ball? We have blown 3 tries in 3 games because of it.

Brad Thorn reportedly told Quade Cooper he doesn't feature in the upcoming Super Rugby Campaign as it currently sits. Left out of the Wallabies, he is now back to playing Club rugby for the Brisbane team. That's quite a fall, but one honestly I have felt is long overdue.

I don't think he's that bad. As he's only 29 he will find another contract.

On a more positive note, the Wales-Springbok game was fun to watch. There was lots of good attacking play particularly by the Welsh. Wales won 24-22 but it could have gone either way.

Unfortunately, this pretty much confirms what I already knew.

We aren't dirty players as such, but we are the worst tier 1 team in the world for getting cards! Not a stat I think we should be proud of, but one I am disappointed that Steve Hansen probably won't care too much about.

Discipline has been a problem this year, I have lamented it all season.
