Hammerer:

Let's calm this down rather than amping it up.

I wasn't criticising you for supporting the Crusaders in the forum. I was primarily commenting on your previous post and that alone.

Nor was I saying it your posts are spam. The other guy said that. I don't have any problem with the number or quality of your posts.

Your "one-eyed" response in the post I pointed to was characterised by:

  1. Assuming that any dislike or criticism of the Crusaders or any feature of that team must be irrational and unjustified, e.g. "Go calm yourself down. Your irrational hatred for the Crusaders (and me it would seem) is what is tiresome."
  2. Attacking the person rather than the argument, e.g. "Share with the group your knowledge which is obviously far superior to the rest? Educate me, knower of all."
  3. Feeling superior and entitled to say things like "Oh, give it a rest already! Boy what a prize rant!"

I thought that tuapaka1 had some home truths for you to reflect upon.

I'm also thinking about them with respect to myself because it is too easy to put down other people and the teams they value. I'd much rather make a positive statement about any team - I hope that is obvious in recent posts. Where we disagree I hope that I've been polite in response because I have no dislike of you or ill will towards you.

I wasn't directing my comments at you either, my comments were basically directed at tuapaka1.

So it's clear

I don't claim that all dislike or criticism of the Crusaders is irrational, but tuapaka1 previous posts have been just as inflammatory and critical of the Crusaders and of me specifically. They/I can do no right is my experience with his posts.

I felt attacked and that the guy feels his knowledge is vastly superior to mine, which may be the case, so I asked him to qualify his claim the Crusaders are one dimensional (They were a couple of years ago quite predictable for a short while) and that Scott Robertson was overrated. Both could be true, but I'd expect some evidence to go with that.

This is about the 3rd or 4th time he has made these type of comments. I am tired of it. I come here for fun and enjoyment. I love Rugby, and I love discussions. I don't expect to agree in every instance, and in most instances, I am simply putting forward my view. l am open to being shown a different point of view, but like anyone I'd expect some justification.

In short I felt his comments were uncalled for and overly aggressive, and I didn't take too kindly to them.

I appreciate you taking the time to clarify your perspective, we are good, I just didn't feel his comments were required to be put forward the way they were.

Thought this was amusing. Was looking for the Crusaders team to face the Bulls tomorrow night and got this back when I searched.

Anyone see any issues?

What does Google know about rugby positions, or injuries.

Apparently not, but this part of the results is information it's collected from somewhere. I can't really imagine Izzy as a flanker.

I still miss Nemani Nadolo, I wish he would come back to the Crusaders.

I saw Robbie Fruean was listed on that Crusaders roster - also a flanker - and followed that link only to find out that he has been forced to retire due to by his heart problems. I hadn't heard that news.

Sad that such a good player never got to play for the All Blacks. But putting it in perspective, there's life outside of rugby and he's got a daughter now.

If he'd got rheumatic fever a few years later than he did then he probably would have made it into the All Blacks.

...

But he should never have deserted the Hurricanes for the Crusaders.

Apparently, England makes a "stunning" ultimatum in telling Eddie Jones if England do badly in the RWC, he is out of a job. OMG, tell me it isn't so?

Wouldn't the averagely intelligent human being have ASSUMED this was the case when they signed the contract?

tukapa1 had a dig about "all the players Crusaders have "poached" from other provinces but..

Highlanders: Just five of their current players spent their final year at school in the Highlanders region, with Joshua Dickson, Josh Renton, Matt Faddes and Sio Tomkinson joining Ben Smith as pure Highlanders at heart.

Not a vintage night from the Crusaders, but a bonus point win (expected in my view) against the Bulls was a good result.

The Chiefs Sunwolves game was a hiding. Chiefs look good on attack, though that was a bad night at the office by the Sunwolves defense. Their attack was good at times though. I can see promising signs. It might be a while before they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Hurricanes Highlanders game was a cracker. There were two absolutely barnstorming finishes by Vince Aso and Ben Lam.

Not to mention Barrett's freakish intercept, flicking the ball up off both feet, collecting it and sprinting away for a try under the posts.

Yup, crazy stuff.

Could talk about Naholo chip infield to collect and score too.

Freakish levels of skill available in NZ now.

A tactic that is being used at the moment that's really getting under my skin is dummy runners purposely changing their line to barge into defenders. I haven't seen any evidence of NZ teams doing it but have noticed it again and again, particularly by SA teams. Even the Sunwolves were at it, their No7 being particularly bad. It is not being penalized, and is obviously being coached. I first noticed it in the Chiefs//Stormers game and have subsequently seen it in the Blues SA tour. I didn''t see Friday night's game, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it from the Bulls as well. If they continue doing it, it will end up like the American NFL.

I feel for the Chiefs who have 5 big players out for the season. It's a lot to ask of any team to lose 5 players. I guess it gives others a chance to put their hands up.

I am starting to feel Damien McKenzie is going to end up like Carlos Spencer, and Quade Cooper, exciting to watch, can make things happen, but mistake prone. On the plus side, he does kick pretty well (but his creepy pre kick thing doesn't do it for me).

Highlanders looked pretty average in the last 20 minutes, just passes not sticking etc. Did feel that pretty much the Chiefs had the game under control most of the time. Messam had a significant impact. Naholo I think that was his best ever game. He looks more like the real deal to me this year, his game is varied, his defense is good, he seems to be making some more intelligent decisions.

Hurricanes v Rebels was really interesting to watch. Rebels looked fantastic for 35 minutes and then fell away. Ben Lam is looking a little like 2018's Reiko Ioane. Probably a little early to be talking about him being in black, but even if it wasn't, where the hell would they put him? If he keeps this up, it all but guarantees Savea will not be back for the AB's because he looks so much better. Savea just looks one dimensional and doesn't seem to bust through guys like he used to.

Another local derby and another win for the home team.
I take back what I said about no NZ teams running interference. Almost every back line move that had the Highlanders number 5 or 7 involved they altered their line to collide with defenders.
I love the commentators bias as well. The most penalized team in the competition (Chiefs) go 46 minutes before a penalty is awarded against them, but as soon as there is a couple in a row, up comes the stat. No mention of the Highlander's 8 penalties in a row in the first half. And the two that McKenzie converted proved to be the difference.
McKenzie needs to work on his delivery a bit but other facets of his game are brilliant. Both sides guilty of turning the ball into a piece of soap. The Chiefs in the first half, the Highlanders in the second. But for that, even more of a try fest.

Yeah, I am surprised it doesn't get pinged, but I guess it's legal. Also maybe it's just the camera angles but I am sure about 6 passes were forward in that game. It's more obvious when it's a big looping pass, but some of the short ones esp transfers between the big boys, look questionable at best.

McKenzie was making similar mistakes last year, I expected it's something he would have worked on in the offseason. For me he doesn't seem a natural 10. He seems more under pressure there and doesn't get the same time and space that he gets at Fullback.

Maybe it will come with time.
