I dont disagree, but there is a clear conflict, who is right?? Plus, the number of times the AB's are called cheats, Richie was called a cheat, its continual. You can debate that its just sour grapes from opposing sides, or sour grapes from diehard AB supporters, but Ive never seen a sport where there is this type of theme

As to the artilcle being one opinion, yes it is, although contains not just one purveyor of that opinion. Discounting it is also just an opinion. Smoke and there is fire thats all

Accusations of cheating are frequent and common in many sports, both on and off the field: netball, cricket, athletics, soccer football, rugby league, ice hockey, baseball, yachting, etc. We don't have to look very far to see this.

It is true that smoke comes from fires but accusations don't always arise from actual wrongdoing. In the case of the All Blacks, they have such dominance that there is no let up because they are still ranked number 1. Until they are brought down a peg, those with unsatisfied grievances will not be satisfied.

Ive never seen the words cheat used as often in any other sport, never. What you are saying is its all fake news and everyone else is wrong?

You're the only person I noticed saying it so I'm only disagreeing with you.

I regularly see cheat comments about many sports other than rugby. I normally only visit news sites a couple of times a month and hardly ever visit social media sites so I must be seeing these comments in forums (like this) and in ads for news/fake news sites.

I missed some obvious sports with publicised cheating: GOLF and FISHING.

A Google search of "cheat sports" for the last 24 hours provides a list that mentions the following sports on the first page: American football, All Blacks, soccer football, golf, Australian cricket, American football, Australian cricket, soccer football

My God. Really!?

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/opinion/104635133/mark-reason-referees-turn-to-the-dark-side-at-eden-park

Apparently now the Crowd is the reason the AB's win. Mark "Reason" is so desperate to find fault in an AB's win next thing it will be the grass, too afraid to stand up to the AB's to provide them friction that would stop other players from sliding in for tries!

So why is England losing every other game now? Maybe it's also the ref, the crowd, other people cheating, but there can't be anything wrong with the team.

Him and Rattue are just crap. Anything written by them I don't even bother looking at. Especially Rattue. The guy writes like an absolute plonker.

Mind you, it is not uncommon that the worst performing team in a game is the referee.

Batman: Mind you, it is not uncommon that the worst performing team in a game is the referee.

To be fair, of every person on the field, by FAR he has the most to watch, and instantly decide upon. He also probably does the most running.

I don't envy him that job. Sometimes even when I watch a passage of play 2-3 times I will not see what caused a penalty, but will see it if the commentators give an explanation and then can notice it.

I do feel that criticisms of "why did the ref not refer to TMO" are justified. There is a TMO, use him.

Mind you, it is also not uncommon that the TMO gets it wrong and misleads the ref who's original interpretation was correct!

/rant

I am *disgusted* by the performance the AB's put in tonight. Outraged they would play so pathetically. I am so TIRED of the ill-discipline that continues to plague the team. Either Steve Hansen doesn't disapprove of it, or he isn't adequately managing to resolving it IMO. It's been 18 months since we have consistently played with good discipline.

I wanted to claw my eyes out half a dozen times.

I entirely agreed with the red card decision but was massively disappointed when the crowd erupted into cheers when the card was presented. It robbed the game of it's chance to be a spectacle. I can only thank goodness that the AB's also rarely put on a poor performance two tests in a row either.

/rant off.

Sorry, I didn't mean to spoil a result for anyone, I tend to avoid this thread until I have watched any games I don't know the result of.

This isn't a no spoilers thread.
The red card lost the French pretty much any chance of winning, but that same incident cost the All Blacks their main playmaker. McKenzie is great in broken play, but his passing seems a bit suspect at times. The pre game rain may have had a bearing because A.Smith's passing was off, and Perenara's not much better when he replaced him. Once the French were a back down, they turned it into a forward dominated contest and the ABs didn't adjust. It demonstrated there is more to the All Black Captaincy than having 99 caps.
Perenara's yellow card was a bit perplexing. I thought if you were the tackler, as long as you clearly released the tackled player (tick), were on your feet (tick), you are entitled to play the ball. Unless I guess, if a ruck is formed and you have to put yourself onside first. But it is borderline to call it a professional foul.
You can't accuse the ABs of not putting in the effort if the look on Sam Whitelock's face in the background of the final French try was anything to go by. He was completely spent.

The changes will likely come for next week, now that the series is secured. Depending on the severity of Barrett's head knock, McKenzie and Mounga get their chance. Same for Crotty (if not fit) replaced with Laumape plus Goodhue (or SBW).
The experiment with Ben Smith on the wing should be over. He is a fullback who can play wing, so play him at fullback. Time for Naholo's return.
