RSA look pretty solid. Against Argentina they weren't amazing. In the Southern Hemisphere based on what I have seen in the last few months, SA is our biggest worry.

Hard to tell with Northern teams as there has been a LOT of movement at the top for them.

Our biggest two opponents for right now are pressure and how we deal with it (including defensive line speed pressure), and referees. We need to find a way to take them out of our games through understanding and complying with their differing views on game management.

Batman:

i wonder if this is the new evidence they were talking about

I think Aussie try to make it look worse as possible. Targeting specific player to injure the guy - ABs could have executed it perfectly using someone less important. However, if it's true and it was coming from ABs camp, my theory of ABs becoming cheats just got proved. Shame on them.

If it's players idea - exclude them from the camp and ABs for life! We want fare competition and ABs are well capable to win without been cheap cheats.

He got nailed 3 weeks. Misses Bledisloe 2, Tonga and the opener against SA. That hurts.

Apparently not according to the NZHerald article (https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=12258061):

The 25-year-old will miss this weekend's test against Australia with the ban lasting until Sunday September 1. He will be free to play in the All Blacks' final warm-up test against Tonga on September 7 and for the start of the Rugby World Cup.

I had suspected the same as you, however..

Just misses Bledisloe 2?

While he will not be allowed to play in the blockbuster Bledisloe Cup test against the Wallabies in Auckland on Saturday night, Barrett will be eligible to play Tonga in Hamilton on September 7 and there be available for the World Cup in Japan. The All Blacks first game of the tournament is against South Africa in Yokohama on September 21.

So 3 Weeks not 3 matches? That's odd. Usually they ban for matches.

Interesting.

Pains me to say this, but Mark Reason is at least partially right in his latest post, talking about how much better the AB's were on attack in that game. He is right that every time they had the ball they looked reasonably good and had a reasonable chance of scoring, not to mention that off the back of 20% possession they had outscored the Wallabies 2-1 tries.

I think we need not be all doom and gloom right now. Lots of improve, but some signs of things that might be coming. I think the 10/15 combination could be something special.

I do also wonder how much the AB's are keeping in the tank from an energy perspective. Peaking at the right time, was a key feature of our 2015 win.

Rubbish. Hooper is a good card prospect during a game.

https://punditarena.com/rugby/smcmahon/michael-hooper-now-yellow-carded-player-test-match-history/

Flankers are nowhere near as effective if they're in front of the ref all the time for other stuff, so you want the other teams' flankers to be as visible as possible so the ref is watching them and not your guys. It means he gets watched like a hawk That means niggle (e.g. Savea), not full-on shoulder-charges to the head. So yes, he may have been "targeted" but I really really doubt the All Blacks "targeted" him in a way that involved deliberately risking their own players being red-carded.

Anyone suggesting the All Blacks were trying to injure him off the park is just making stuff up.

I seriously doubt they were intentionally trying to injure him, but rattle him with big tackles is a technique all sides use, especially against the newbies. Watch the game and see how hard they try and get under RM's skin. I don't think Richie got enough credit what was a pretty composed performance under a lot of pressure. He was defensively excellent including 2 try saving tackles from memory. I really can't wait to see what our attack looks like if that combo of 10/15 gels and we get some front foot ball. It could be something to behold.

I for one thought the Wallabies weren't exactly stellar in their performance despite all the pundits writing about how amazing they were. I thought they played like how they have normally played in the Cheika era. The only difference is that this time when they moved the ball they found holes which could be explained by a difference in headcount?

I'm sorry but I didn't see any Stephen Larkham or George Gregan kind of Rod McQueen potency. But perhaps they are not trying to copy the ABs but trying to copy England? Or a bit of both perhaps. But take no credit away, they all played well and the scoreboard was a true reflection.

I am very happy that this Saturday will be the biggest day of the year for me. I expect the normal AB retribution but then when I look at the AB team I hardly recognise anyone ... !

I think we were watching a different game. They were massively physical, accurate and the skills on display were AB's worthy. They made the gain line with relative ease and finished tries that a year ago wouldn't have happened. They deserve a lot of credit.

The AB's have something to prove and I expect them to be angry with themselves over the way they didn't front up, and as such I am hoping they will (legally) batter the Wallabies this week.

I think you must have been bewitched by the replay of a Jonah Lomu v England lookalike. I'll give them that one.

Agree with the physicality but they have always been physical, but toothless.

But I guess my standards are a bit higher, eg a Larkham would have done some ghosting past people as if there weren't there, a Gregan would have been at the ruck and delivered a bullet pass before the ball even got to the ruck, and I also did not see pin point kicks for position or a pin point grubber that sliced the defence like a hot knife to butter. Goal kicking were a bit wonky. Gave away a soft try.

Based on that, I expect an AB win at Eden Park if the ABs were to play like the team I described above. But as I said, I've never heard of half the team!

So I'm actually pretty excited. Not had this feeling for a few years now.

I agree in that " talking about how much better the AB's were on attack in that game." They looked really good. I am a bit agnostic as I have not got over the "these AB;s are the best team ever produced" after Richie, Dan etc etc left, and we beat Samoa and Fiji IIRC. I took that as an insult. I posted that here and got blasted. This AB's team are not close to those years. Not close at all. We have dominated as the other teams are not great. A lot of that is "i done well, Im retiring to Japan to make real money"

IMHO AB's are not great, neither are anyone else. We are No.1. but not NUMBER ONE. RSA have been ok at best not great, AUS are rubbish. They were in an article before last weekend, labelled as possibly not breaching the pool games, Fiji takes them. We plated ARG we won but they took us for a good while, before gassing. RSA drew. I called that on out boys golf trip to Hanmer. We are good but not that good. The AUS hammers us. I also called that, but didn't expect the big loss. I expected a second half win or  minor loss.

Its close. Im not sure how many other top tier teams have lost class players, but its close.

TAB has us as the same hot favourites this weekend. Wow. AUS were really good. WE will lose SB, the Goodhue mullet as well but still, we are rated as raging favourites. I don't get that.
