networkn: I think we all need to step back and realize that these officials and judiciaries are full of human beings with different viewpoints and standards,

I agree with this. Match adjudicating is not easy but we also need to provide as many tools to get the right decisions.

Over the long term the match officials should have their performances monitored and compared.

Well it IS actually happening, which is why those two referees are demoted. It's not the first time either.

I get why you would not understand me if you are equating tackle on nonu to the one by Reggie goods. The severity of the incidents and the outcomes is not comparable in my view. Unless you are saying the tackle on Nonu was actually a red card incident, it would not have been picked up by a sighting commissioner.

No, I am simply saying that games ARE reviewed and IF the infringement is severe enough, the citing commissioner has the ability to bring a player up on charges even if the ref doesn't punish a player in game or even if they do, for further punishment.

Interesting how things are perceived vs stats;

I don't really rate Codie Taylor as a Hooker, I'd have said based on what I have seen that his throwing accuracy isn't very good, in fact I groan whenever I see his name because to my mind his inaccurate throwing as to my mind cost us (The Crusaders and I LOL)  at least one game. Stats actually show him as very accurate, 85% and same as Dane Coles though behind other hookers like Ash Dixon at 92%.

I guess it's true that it's easier to remember the bad things than the good.

I see Piatau has been denied permission to play for the Blues next season despite being "available" for 11 matches. I actually support the NZRU on this, and the logic behind  saying no, to allow someone else who will be available long term to fill the Jersey. I understand he is a good player, but surely from the Blues Perspective they are better to put someone in there long term?

If you mean Munro and Jackson, an interesting fact was pointed out this morning on radiosport. Munro was never scheduled to officiate this weekend and Jackson was always only an assistant. No one in the media bothered to check before running with the story that they had been 'punished'.

Yes I did see that, I actually got distracted with work or I would have commented here at the time. I consider this VERY poor form by SANZAR, and a please explain is required at the very least. Having said that, this is one example of a number of cases I have seen. Obviously I can't look back and see if they are pulling the wool over our eyes in other instances, but I'd like to think not, and would assume not until I see evidence to the contrary.

Well what a disappointing season for the Crusaders. Not enough consistency, not enough tackles made. Worst defensive season I can recall from them. I do think the Warratahs got away with blue murder, should have been both those players in the bin for that tackle on Whitelock and I am damned if Skelton shouldn't have been binned and cited. How the ref missed the knock on during the kick-off is beyond me.

I'll be backing the Hurricanes to win this year.

Hurricanes vs Crusaders - I suspect the only way for the Crusaders to win is to stop their backs getting the ball at all (our defence hasn't been so good this season to say the least). So our AB's need to front up, and all kicks need to go way out, so they can't get ANY quick restarts. Though some will scoff, it wouldn't surprise me if the Crusaders won, and even gave the Hurricanes a spanking this game.

It's amazing to me to see so many people hating on Blackadder. He hasn't won a title, but hasn't failed to lead the Crusaders to the finals bar this year, and last year they were one incorrectly awarded penalty from the title.

Name a coach in NZ currently with a better record for finals than Blackadder? If you applied the acid like this to him, then Rennie (Yes he has won twice but nowhere near the same number of finals berths), Jamie Joseph would both have to go. Obviously Kirwan and Hammet should have gone a lot earlier.

I do think they need a rethink, but short of Robertson I am unsure who would even be worth considering to replace him. Someone suggested that Matson take over but as someone pointed out in another forum, he's the backs coach and it's hardly been amazing in the backs last couple of years!

I've never seen Andy Ellis have a bad season and this was the first time I doubted he should be in the AB's for a long long time.

Really? You think it's impossible? Any team can front up on any day and spank another, surely you have seen it before. The Crusaders are (Still) Lethal when they click together, it's just they haven't done so (enough) this season. They could have won the last encounter between the two teams.

Haha def possible - its a game of rugby, but maths says its unlikely.  And not sure where you would conclude they could get spanked, their only loss this season was by 5 points.

Comment in Stuff Article:

Three concussions to No 8 Kieran Read, lock Sam Whitelock, and midfielder Ryan Crotty. Already without first five eighth Colin Slade (thigh), prop Joe Moody (foot) and fullback Israel Dagg, the teamsheet has taken on the look of last man standing.

That's pretty grim reading as a Crusaders fan. (or in fact a NZ Rugby fan at all :))

Latu banned for 4 weeks, Skelton for 2 weeks over tackle. Both players should have been red carded during the game.

What a difference that would have made to the outcome for the Crusaders. Another bit of average reffing. Crusaders deserve to be where they are in the table I don't doubt that, they haven't been playing near their best, but it's still annoying.

So the Crusaders game plan of 'get the ball to Nadolo' finally bears fruit. They have a mathematical chance at the finals but more likely to be the destroyer of other team's aspirations as they proved tonight. Tomorrow night's Highlanders vs Chiefs game looks like being the make or break match for both sides.
Confession: Was cheering for the Crusaders as I'm still fuming over the refereeing from a fortnight ago.
