I had a pretty epic boys weekend (Steaks, Ribs, Paintball, Rugby, and lots of Borderlands played on big screens!), so I ended up watching the AB's and not much else, and Monday and Monday night spent a LOT of time watching the Rugby (Having seen all 48 matches of the past 2 cups will do the same this time too). I am still 3 matches behind and have the results unfortunately of 2 of them, however, I will still watch them. It's been fantastic so far.
Despite the reports of foul play in the AB's win, I was extremely happy that FINALLY the AB's are actually playing more disciplined Rugby. I have been harping here and elsewhere about it for around 3-4 years now, and other than the win, it was the most pleasing part of the win in my view.
Notable matches so far was the French vs Argentina. Wow, the French played magical beautiful Rugby for the first half and Argentines played fantastically in the second. I won't share the result (and I'd appreciate people doing the same during the discussions here), but I was on the edge of my seat.
Fiji vs Australia was amazing for 40 minutes. The Fijians are MONSTER humans, in terms of size and muscles etc. There were some MASSIVE hits in that game. I'd love to see Fiji make the quarters at least.
England v Tonga, Tonga played entirely better than they did against the AB's a few weeks ago. I do think England held their attack back quite a lot to focus on defense which was exceptional, and Eddie Jones did put forward what most consider to be his best team, but they seemed intent on putting themselves under artificial pressure. It showed best when they NEEDED to score and did so.
All in all it's been fantastic so far.
