Oh man Fiji nearly brought it back from the end against Uruguay. Thats a bit of a shock upset to me. I expected the score between Fiji and Aus to be closer and now this 3 point loss. The now have to beat Wales and hope Wales beats Uruguay and pull back a lot of points, to make the top 3, or its Uruguay through and not Fiji. Uggggh,

Why sad about Fiji? A minnow achieved an big upset, good on them, they are growing as a rugby country. But its poor Fiji?

3 week ban for Reece.

if that's the case they should look at every incident that went unnoticed - i believe a few ABs would be in trouble too (according to social media - could not find the videos myself)

I checked that tackle.... it really wasn't that bad, problem is that it was a high speed collision but I didn't see any intent to cause a dangerous tackle..more like poor technique .

3 week ban? That is just nuts!

barrett red card was also poor technique

thing is, it's got to be consistent. if there is consistency i have no problem with that. but i bet there are many many many more similar incidents that are not looked at. but i guess they could say they are responding to Fijian complaint, and the others did not complain. maybe the social media should set up a complains committee to bring consistency.

can guarantee this tournament is going to be won or lost by some inconsistent decisions.

another plug for my intermediate card - 10 mins in the bin followed by mandatory substitution

This. I watched this game, it was *awesome*. Maybe my second favourite (though Argentina France was good too). Uraguay played the best I've ever seen a tier 3 team play ever, they looked like a tier 1 team in many respects. They were awesome and deserved their win completely. It meant *everything* to them to win.

I am a fan of Fiji, I'd have liked to see them make the quarters, but I think that's now somewhat unlikely.

Overall, the quality of games has been pretty high.

How did Aus end up in a pool with almost no real opposition. Surely they thought these pools through.

The pools are defined by the world rankings at a specific date.

First result in google.

Couple of weeks ban for that seems perfectly legit.

Reece had had 3 massive hits on him in defense (perfectly legitimately and legally) earlier in the game, I suspect he was giving a bit back. If you lead with a shoulder, you take your chances you'll be spending time on the sidelines.

If he'd been Red Carded in game, Fiji may possibly have won that game.

Yes shoulder charge to the head = red card I've seen that and I've also seen the Barrett one. Both the same type of offence. But any other shoulder charges that have gone unnoticed in other games? Surely there must be a few! Apparently ABs done some, Samoa did one to Russia, etc. Why they not hauled up?

I'd be pretty surprised if the ones the AB's were accused of would have met the red threshold. Samoa game I am honestly *shocked* there wasn't at *least* one citing.  Not even a caution to the player to be on notice (Which WR is able to do).

I was honestly pretty disappointed in Russia in their opening two games. With 13 men against 15 they didn't look close to scoring and they desperately need a new attack coach. I think even *I* could get them moving forward better than that. They looked ponderous and unmotivated. I do understand they are barely professional players, but I would say they are in serious need of some assistance to fix that.  I want them to be good, or even ok, and I think they could be, but they don't seem to have direction or purpose the way other teams do.

So, I suspect Ioane, Goodhue and Jordie Barrett will all be part of the team this week. Goodhue off the Bench, Ioane to start on the wing and Barrett at either wing or fullback.

I think BB and RM may get rested, along with the two first-choice wings, or they may play 1 and then the following week play the other.

The problem is that when you have your team mates being cleared out around the head/neck and the ref does nothing about it, then you take it into your own hands to stop it from happening.

The major issue for the Hodge one is that an incident the match officials and TMO decided was OK was:

1) found to meet a red card criteria.

2) worthy of a three-week ban.

So how could the match officials and the Citing Commissioner come to such massively different interpretations around the same set of rules? Why even have a TMO?

This is what World Rugby need to explain, and fast.

I mean it's not "We've missed some off the ball tackles and stuff, we'll be better" - this is "We even checked it and it was fine".
