Nandolo hasn't been a try scoring machine but he has been massive in the season in other regards. He had a couple of huge games for them where he didn't score a try but was instrumental in 3 others and probably 4.

My prediction was pretty spot on. It wasn't a THUMPING but it was conclusive, and a bonus point to boot. The Crusaders were pretty lucky near the end not to lose a guy, but given how stupid the previous yellow was I think they wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. There was some incredible defense in that last 5 minutes, they have reason to be proud.

I am fairly concerned at Mccaw's missed tackles something he has been legendary for, hopefully he will come right for the RWC and I have all faith in the guy.

DC played well, but the commentators kept going on about him at 10. I don;t think DC missing has been the Crusaders problem, Slade has been a worthy replacement and playing well himself, but I think overall they seemed very tight tonight despite missing a lot of what would be considered key players.

Obviously I know it's pretty unlikely but I'd love to see them in the finals.

On another note, Pollard, the likely #10 for the SB's looks LETHAL with the boot. Hopefully our Goal Kicking Improves considerably or we could lose on 1 missed kick!

I had a feeling the Crusaders would win, if only I put my money where my mouth was, lol...

Hurricanes need Barret back. Black is a really good up and coming player but we need the main man back, hopefully next week.

Nonu had a good game last night, except when he comically tried to shoulder Nadolo out of the way to prevent his try and just bounced off! He must be the front runner for ABs No12 ahead of SBW on current form.
Carter also had a good game except for the touch finder that didn't and led to the Hurricanes try. Great goal kicking though. He still has the best No10 brain in the game and doesn't lack courage but is down a little on speed and I was concerned to see him limping from about midway through the second half.
I know it could bear fruit in the RWC, but the mandatory rest breaks for the ABs throughout the Super XV has kind of skewed the competition and spoiled it in my view.

What a hiding the Highlanders gave the Chiefs! I am not certain what the rule book says, but to me the decision to not award McKenzie was the right one, had at no point had control and I have seen plenty of tries denied for that reason. The Highlanders look like they could go all the way. By comparison I'd consider that one of the worst games for the Chiefs.

Watched a little of the Reds v Force game and have to say Quade Cooper looks lethal with the boot and showed some magic in his passes. Looks like a long break did him good. Be interesting to see if he is consistent.

i read the Stuff online commentary who proclaimed

1) no suchh rule as control in union, only in league
2) no such rule as downward pressue in union, only in league

surely not! unless i've been watching league all these years thinking it was union?

The first one is correct, the second is not. Rule 9 and rule 22 do not mention control. You can score a try without downward pressure if the ball is in your hand(s), or with downward pressure by hand, arm or any part of the front of your body from your waist to your neck.

Since the ball rolled under McKenzie's ribs that constitutes a try. Yet again the Chiefs on the wrong side of the TMO, although this time much more subjective. And I have seen similar given to counter networkn claiming the opposite.
Why wasn't the Highlanders No7 sinbinned for a no arms shoulder charge? Maybe because the guy he barged weighed 35kg more than him. I have see Maa Nonu yellow carded for similar and only a couple of weeks ago a player player who pulled out of a tackle and still contacted the player without arms was also sinbinned.
Why wasn't someone binned for dangerous play when the Highlanders sacked the Chiefs lineout while the ball carrier was above shoulder height? That after Smith had already run away with the ball after a penalty had been awarded preventing a quick tap.
People on this forum have accused the Chiefs of negative play in similar circumstances but are silent now?
Not quite sure why the ball was a piece of soap when the Chiefs were (trying to) pass it but was solid in the hands of the southerners :-\
But the Chiefs missing 10 of their front line players through injury definitely showed in the final quarter of the game where the Highlanders calmly went about their business and picked up their bonus point tries in the final 10 minutes while the Chiefs became more frantic and error ridden.

Oh and the Highlanders were deserved winners.

I thought the shoulder charge was card consideration worthy, I can't recall but I thought they reviewed it and came away with the opinion it was penalty vs card? I'd PROBABLY of binned him for it.

It's one of the first times I have seen the Highlanders have a "bad" game in terms of discipline like this, but the Chiefs regularly get away with it (Not as much this year I'll admit), but through 2013/2014 it was rife.

Not sure what you are suggesting with your soap comment.

I'll agree that the reffing lately has been at an ALL time low and I have watched a LOT of Rugby. I am DEEPLY concerned about the RWC. The problem is, it's too late to make changes to the way the game is played, in time for the RWC with only 107 days to go. Changes should have been made Dec 2014 and implemented in SR 2015.

I was surprised to see the panic set it for the Chiefs, they do usually run a fairly unstructured game, but it seemed they were trying to outdo the Highlanders in that area, and it just didn't work for them.

On another note, I have been blown away by the number of English players who are in big trouble or excluded over conduct leading to the world cup. Tuiliangi and Another guy last week, Cipiriani this week for Drink Driving. I can't see them excluding him for it, though they should.

Lancaster must be having kittens.

I would support us (and it seems England needs it far more), doing what the Welsh did a few years back during the RWC, no alcohol for 3 months. (Though we do have a pretty first rate record for alcohol related incidents amougst our current AB's, which is good.

Reports that Jerry Collins, Ex All Black, and his wife, have been killed in a car accident in France, and that their baby is in a critical condition.

I sincerely hope this isn't the case.

My God, that's awful news.  Watching the news sites with interest and let's hope it's not so.

figaro.fr - translated by google:
The former New Zealand international Jerry Collins, 34, died last night at around 4:30 am in a road accident on the A9 in the Herault. The player's RC Narbonne died instantly and his wife, as reported by the local press. "Their three-month-old girl, born on January 26, was evacuated to the hospital of Montpellier in a desperate state," says Midi Libre . The vehicle rammed into a bus, in which two people were slightly injured, from Portugal in circumstances that remain unclear. Jerry Collins was signed in Narbonne in January. He has played in Toulon in the past.

Wow, I was really hoping it was going to be a translation error, or mistaken identity.

My God, if the wreckage is anything to go by, I am not surprised they were killed instantly. There is nothing left!

My condolences go to his family, including his cousin Tana Umaga.

Wow, what a weekend of Rugby.

I figured it would be a relatively high scoring game between the Highlanders and Hurricanes, but I didn't imagine an 8 try score fest by the Hurricanes. After an emotionally charged start no doubt due to the Death of JC, they went to work. It really shows when the Highlanders are missing their AB's.

I predicted a 30 point hiding to the Blues by the Crusaders tonight and I wasn't too far off. If a few more balls had gone to hand it could have been a thrashing. Anyone who has been writing Dan Carter, he just thumbed his nose at you all and put together some fantastic first five action including a pinpoint kick for what could only be termed as a miraculous recovery by Nandolo for that try. I suspect he will be the starting 10 bar injury and BB will be our supersub. As the commentators tonight mentioned, it's as much about his calm mature rugby as his razzle dazzle.

I'd like to see more of his running game though, I suspect it isn't far away.

Interestingly the stats show that the Crusaders trail the Hurricanes in trys scored by only 4! That does put to bed all the complainers who say the Crusaders have no attack!

Anyone know where I can see the highlights of the warratahs/cheetahs game online?
