Congratulations England, a beautifully executed plan. I’m glad the officials didn’t decide the contest. In fact the scoreline would have been much worse but for the tmo.

They did. They decided a no arms tackle was suddenly not a yellow card, and that it was OK to grapple with player's necks in mauls. Go back and watch that knock on in the maul on our line that led to a try being overturned. Sam Whitlock is in a headlock and getting the treatment but it was totally ignored.

At all other stages of this tournament, for every other team, that's man in the bin stuff. And yet it was just ignored. Even Owens wanted to give the try to the English that they created with clear and stupidly obvious obstruction. Tell me England not going down to 14 men wouldn't have changed that game in some way.

If I were a Pacific player I'd be feeling a tad hard done by at the moment.

Clearly tried to wrap, get over it.

Great game, can't win it all.

Well played England. Same defense that SA through at us but we didnt counter it this time as our FB was not smart enough.

England wanted to win, NZ expected themselves to win.

Our kicking game, a generous D.

3 week links, 3 Barrett brothers, flappn mugs the trio.

Well I copped so much abuse after the cricket world cup by Poms because I suggested they didnt win and it should be noted it was a draw, of course being Poms they will hold onto any scraps they can get, just or unjust.

So I have come to the conclusion I am no longer a Monarchist or loyal to the Commonwealth.

If the flag comes up agaian I will vote to change it to get that disgusting colonising unwashed stinking Union Jack off our flag.

Time to tighten our immigration for England'rs to NZ, deport any residents and strip citizenship and deport any English people with any offences Speeding tickets and higher.

I think this to be fair in comparison. Time to abandon the commonwealth all together.

Yes GV27, now you mention it, the neck rolls and choke holds were something we were screaming at, but none were even looked at. So I guess not an issue. Owens must have gone to the Wayne Barnes school of forward pass detection. But I reckon he missed more AB ones than English ones.
But then stupid stuff by the likes of Whitelock (and some acting a football player would be proud of by Farrell) snuffed out a fight back. I did have my hopes raised when the replacements made a difference, but that was pretty quickly made to disappear.

16 turnovers to 5.

Watching Damian McKenzie in the commentary team. He’s probably glad he wasn’t there now.

Which plays are you talking about? Apart from when Jordie tried to offload in the tackle with three minutes left I can't think of any play where they were worse than the rest, and that was clearly due to the pressure of chasing the game.

I'll put your comments down to the typical uniformed tripe you post.

With the risk of making a fool of myself, which clearly doesn't bother people like tealeaf, I can't see Wales getting close to South Africa tomorrow night.

I think Barrett consistently kicking the ball (and not well) was giving them field position when we needed to hold onto the ball and ruck it up the field, just like the showed SA graphically have been doing, holding onto the ball, forming malls off of good rucks, then spin it wide once near the 22.

You cant win games when you have 30% territory and low possession if you just kick your possession away, thats what you do when you are leading. Really amateur from BB

Lol. This is getting stupid.

The game was won by a dominant forward pack. England were far better than we were and totally deserved to win.

It wasn't the ref, it wasn't the Barretts, it wasn't a conspiracy.

They won because they were much better up front, destroyed our lineout and won the collisions. Other than the horrible missed tackle in the first 5 minutes we defended very well.

They played all the rugby at the right end and we couldn't exit.

Congratulations to them, it wasn't to be for us. We've had an incredible run and it's now over.

Congrats to England who had answers to everything we threw at them. It was pretty slick. I am pretty disappointed. The ABs are still my team and win or lose I'll back them. An unfortunate way to see the end of so many distiquished careers but that's knock out football.

GV27:

Outplayed by England. But what a thoroughly dour performance from Owens. The English defence was so offside they could have tried out for fullback. Numerous instances of head/neck contact were ignored. A no-arms tackle that would have been a yellow for any other team went unpenalised. And yet the All Blacks were penalised for every jostle, shove or prod off the ball.

I will commit to saying this: England has had by far and away, the lightest and most fortuitous treatment by the refs and match officials of any RWC team this tournament. They should have been down to 14 men on two occasions this game and yet the failure of the All Blacks to fire will be the story.

No not today. The ABs were completely outplayed.

Even if the penalty was converted the ABs would not have won. But yes there was a bit of theatricals there and it will continue to happen. The ABs also commit a few sly offence here and there but today was not their day. The result was never in doubt.

I'm not sure, they looked lost. Syntax error.

They play well against 2nd class teams, but this was boss level and it were not up to it. In fact nobody was. I cannot name a single person who played well from the entire team.

Whoa that's a bit of politics. Let me ask a question - can Aussies be knighted alongside Englishmen like Clive and Alf?

You dont need me to make a fool of yourself.

But how do you think Wales not getting close to SA is a bad call? I cant expect anything but a shalacking. It should have been a NZ v SA final again. Given SA are a bit behind NZ, SA vs Eng should be a good close game ith both teams playing similar footy (should Eng play like tonight).

Re Barretts. Scott made no major mistakes but was just ineffective and got raked. Jordie lost the ball 2 minutes after coming on. But my main gripe was the BB played, was an F by his standards. Like Ive said before, he is rocks or diamonds, he was just utter rocks tonight. When they held onto the ball for a period when playing force back I finally thought we had a chance to work the ball up the field, but he resorted back to kicking the ball into touch, and hes not the best touch finder out there. He was completely ineffective as an impact player so was a waste of time having him up in the line when they were just chippn it over and we would scramble back to make another kick to touch.

I have to ask does Owens know what a straight ball in a line out looks like. The Eng were throwing it straight down their line, my only gripe with them.

As for the rest of what I said, can you not read into dark humor/cynical disappointment? I think not, as I said you dont need me to make a fool of yourself :-)

We needed Andrew Merthens. There is none in the country with that sort of abilities. We play such sexy attacking footy that kicking for territory is a bit of a foreign language.

Its going to be an interesting looking team in 4 years time with so many of our players gone. A lot of retiring coaches too.

Im glad somebody got the humour and didnt take it too seriously ;-p.

I think it all started from a mental shock of going 7 down.

In terms of forward dominance, well our forwards didn't contest anything. We played like Australia did last week. Exactly the same. Trying to play sexy footy without committing any forwards into the dirty work. The only difference was we didn't leak that many tries.

I thought Scott Barrett was inserted to counter the boss level forward pack, but I think it made our pack worse for some reason. Maybe Ardie needed Cane alongside. Not sure what difference that would have made though, their number 4 singlehandedly destroyed our pack.
