I think the AB's were pretty nervous before and during this match, I think they were visibly unsettled at England's response (glancing around wondering what was happening, no single place to "aim" the challenge). I don't expect them to be caught out like that next time if it happens.

I have no issue with the challenge, but if the rules preclude them crossing the halfway line, and they get a financial penalty, then so be it, England would gladly have paid it.

when you do mind games, you pick whatever you can use against your opponent. in monaco quali, michael planned the toilet to make nico suffer. in yokohama, england used the surprise haka ambush to stun the ABs just long enough to get the upper hand (both team's game plan was to score first and make the other team chase - if you followed the post match interviews), and then they did get the upper hand and they played hard to catch and they won.

I really hope they play a full-strength team. The thought of losing a semi AND losing to Wales in 7 days would make for a fairly crappy summer.

I'd skip Jordie Barrett and I'd replace him with Ben Smith coming off the bench. Goodhue and Crotty with SBW off the bench maybe. I think Goodhue is probably better but I can't see them skipping Crotty or SBW.

Yes I get that but stun the All Blacks???? So they were stunned and shaking the first few minutes? I recall Farrell winked at one of them after the haka and got a nod back. The haka always happens, occasionally there is something in return. If 23 guys in white looking at you stuns you, well, umm. If the haka was instrumental in the loss, well I dunno what to say.

In terms of coaching and haka, it's nothing to do with each other though you need both physical and psychological. Coaching is to train endurance, strength, skill, muscle memory. Mind games is psychological. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it backfires. This time I believe the challenge to the haka played a role, maybe it wasn't 100%, maybe it wasn't even 20%, but it may have been 0.5%. That might have been the difference in the first 5 mins and the rest is history.

If ABs scored first the result would have been different, I am sure of that. So if that happens, then England strategy is poor and the media would have crucified Jones for playing 2 flyhalves.

Elite sport is all in very small percentages. 0.1 percent at the press conferences, 0.5% at the haka, 0.1 percent in lining up the defence, 0.5% in Mo'unga's missed tackle at 40 seconds in, plus a bit of snowball effect* over 60 mins is enough to make the ABs look like fools. 

*it didn't help with the eventual:

0.5% of the english flankers over our flankers

0.5% of their kicking vs our kicking

0.5% of their props vs out props

0.5% of their jumpers vs our jumpers

0.5% of energy in the last 20 mins because NZ used up 0.5% more energy

but it all started with that 0.5% at the start of the game, it really messed the ABs into total confusion

I don't think the AB's played like fools, and I disagree that Aussie looked better. I think England came with a game plan, attacked our weaknesses, our forwards were dominated and England had an answer for the plays we made. I am not sure even if we had played as well as we did the prior week we would have won, their forwards just rolled over us. They have a brilliant pack. Our lineout and scrum weren't good enough.

As you say, in big games small things make a big difference. I think the scoreline didn't reflect just how dominant England was. It could have been 35-0 to them.

and that was part of his plan I haven’t really been impressed with how England have played this World Cup until the game against us they just came up with a better plan then us we just didn’t change

Not sure what Saturday night brings, I'm going to watch it and may the better team win. But with Jerome in charge, it will be more mind games on playing the referee. If the score remains close then whoever works the referee to their advantage will win. If one is dominant then maybe not.
