Hemi88: and that was part of his plan I haven’t really been impressed with how England have played this World Cup until the game against us they just came up with a better plan then us we just didn’t change

I can't agree. They gave away possession to AUS from ball 1. Here you go, have 70% of the ball. They did, AUS had 70% possesion and they ran the ball really well. naturally they will lose the ball, and in their half or leak a penalty in range. AUS and RSA spent most of the game in AUS half. What brilliance for what I saw as a boring kicking game, but it was lets only play in your half, but dont drop the ball or make a penalty, we are in range. Brilliant. They also looked awesome running the ball, they ran it like the AB's. Brilliant. The trick is they gave the ball to the other team to screw it up, and they did, under heavy pressure, yet they can run it too.

95% tactics

RSA will be run over. The game will be grinding up the middle as both will kick it away, but ENG will run it far better. Any hole that appears, ENG will take off wide and fast. They will switch from boring ENG to swish AB play

Its not how good you are its how to use what you have.

if they can back that performance up it will be hard South Africa but with the ref it could be a dog fight I think could live with RSA wining I don’t think I could cope with the gloating from northern hemisphere jornos

I don't think the AB's played like fools, and I disagree that Aussie looked better. I think England came with a game plan, attacked our weaknesses, our forwards were dominated and England had an answer for the plays we made. I am not sure even if we had played as well as we did the prior week we would have won, their forwards just rolled over us. They have a brilliant pack. Our lineout and scrum weren't good enough.

As you say, in big games small things make a big difference. I think the scoreline didn't reflect just how dominant England was. It could have been 35-0 to them.

They didn't look better, but I thought they played better - they made more line breaks in the first 20 mins than the ABs did in the entire match, their fullback gain more metres, the pocock - hooper gang stole the ball 3 times in the first half alone, they had way more energy, but just could not breach the last 10 metres. (Actually, never looked like breaching the last 10m at any stage). A couple of intercepted passes made the score blow out.

We need to get over this N vs S thing. Its about the game. Yes we lost but ENG deserve it. Good on them. I feel they may keep No.1 for a wee while, well so be it. Its up to us to  get it back, then we can pat ourselves on the back. Good on us. I'm just not buying the N vs S bickering.  I'd love to see more play between the hemispheres actually

I thought AUS played well, they did look good, but ENG kept them on the wrong playground. Can't score if you are never near the scoreline. I felt the media bagging of AB player ratings was poor. They didnt play bad, ENG didnt allow them to play their game, suffocated, pushed back. When I saw the ratings of  4.0, 3.5, 4.0 etc that was terrible. We get beat so instead of saying we tried our hardest but they had the better plan on the day, the media says we played poor. That's a pity to read.

Having an annual end of year Championship that was the top 2 NI and top two SI would be good

England's performance against us was 20% tactical, 80% execution. They have a better forward pack than we do, especially in the front row, and played with much more intent.

England also played very differently against Australia. They didn't commit to the breakdown at all and were content for Australia to run the same moves over and over again into a solid wall.

don't know much about welsh players but have they names a kamikaze team to face new zealand? preferring youth over experience

EDIT: reason is due to injuries not kamikaze

I feel all the top teams are not strong. I put that does to Japan and Europe. In the Richie Dan Conrad Nonu days they are gelled, quick passes as the support was there no need to look, thats what missing. It will come

Handle9: I'm fairly convinced at this point that we should be looking for a younger captain next year, or a caretaker for a year until we can find one.

I can't see how Whitelock gets through to the next world cup. He's no longer an impact player. He's still a good international lock but not heads and shoulders above Barrett or Tuipolotu.

Even with a ton of rest this year he hasn't really been able to string really strong games together. He'll be 35 at the next world cup and it's hard to see his form improving.

This article has a similar point of view to what I wrote above.
