The press are a funny group. Test one, every member of the Wallabies to a man should have been knighted, a public holiday named for them, and they should have lived tax free the remainder of their natural lives. After test two, every member to a man can't tackle better than a 10 year old school girl, is softer than a marshmellow and they may not be allowed home, forced to live the remainder of their lives 15 meters off the shoreline of Australia :)

The mood changed so fast my head is spinning. I feel sorry for them.

Anybody else enjoying the demise of Canterbury provincial rugby as much as I am this year?

BOP giving them an old fashioned tickle up this afternoon.

Wales France was a pretty disappointing game. Wales under Pivac are a shadow of the side they were under Gatland.

Saying that if France ever sort their discipline (which as always was a sh1tshow) they will be a truly scary team. Dupont, Ntamack, Vakatawa and Fickou are a heck of a base to build a backline around.

Another nasty anti-Canterbury post. I am truly shocked.

I can't recall when I have seen Canterbury post a worse start to the season, they look very average on defense and seem unable to close out a game having lost 3 or 4 games this season by a single point after being reasonably in front.

Not quite sure what's going on, they do have some pretty good players.

On a semi related topic David Havilli is having a blinder season in Mitre 10.

It is a combination of things.

Poor coach and last year as well.

Injuries to forwards, plus lack of experience in the tight forwards.

Thinking Brent Cameron is a super 1st five let alone NPC.

But most of all having Canterbury as the Crusader's colts/under 20 team and Tasman as the Crusaders non All Blacks team. Seen this coming over the last 2 to 3 years.

Shout out in recognition of David Pocock who announced his retirement from Rugby after 83 tests for Australia. He was quite something in his prime. It doesn't feel like 83 tests! He will probably remembered as an Australian great.

Nasty seems a bit far, more gentle ribbing due to the long term success of the Crusaders / Canterbury (and now Tasman)

It's like everyone likes to see the All Blacks lose (except fans obviously) and I did like Man Utd being beaten in their pomp (and Liverpool getting toweled by Villa the other week)

Call me petty, but its all in good humor  - I've grown a fairly thick skin with Otago & the Highlanders :)

Thank you! It's no different than Auckland in the 80's. Those supporters were all a bit touchy as well when things started to go south 😉.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/opinion/300144031/ian-foster-passes-his-first-big-test--now-lets-give-him-a-chance-to-develop-these-all-blacks

I agree with everything said in this article pretty much. Especially about Graham Henry's comments and giving Foster a chance to get his feet under the desk in a challenging year by even the harshest critics appraisal.

I also agree with an earlier article which said it was time to stop mucking around in the midfield and let some combinations begin to form. It feels we haven't had a decent pairing there since Nonu and Smith.

My picks right now would be ALB/Goodhue at 12/13 with Laumape potentially off the bench against tiring defense when he is back.

In other news, I see Julian Savea  is back at the 'canes for 2021. He looks much better than he has for a long time, making damaging runs and showing a bit of the pre form drop. Not sure he will ever make it back for the AB's but it would be good to see him be really good for Wellington next season at least.  I never understood his very sudden drop in form. He had the form at one stage to become one of the greatest wingers in world Rugby.

Meanwhile, back on topic....

Quite a comprehensive win in Sydney last night. No slow start from the All Blacks this week. The foundation set by the forward pack allowing Mo’unga time, and with that time, he flourished. The kick in behind the Wallabies’ rush defence paying dividends. His defence is perhaps the weakest part of his game (mainly due to his size), but with Goodhue and Leinert-Brown outside him for cover that wasn’t exploited (except for the lead up to the Aussie try where Barrett and Goodhue also got fended off as well).

The “two pivot” strategy played out perfectly for Mo’unga’s second try while Smith’s clever reversal of direction helped set up his first. When the ball came off the Aussie winger’s foot and the ball fell into Ritchie’s hands I thought “Man, this is going to be one of the most impressive hat-tricks I’ve ever seen.” But then he was ankle tapped just short. Such a shame because that would have been a final straw for the Oz confidence.

Barrett’s yellow card seemed questionable. I have seen plenty of fends where the player leads with their forearm and it is as much the fault of the tackler who has gone in high as it is the ball carrier. And what difference does it make which arm you are carrying the ball in?

And if a yellow is awarded for contact with the head in a tackle (Frizzell), then why didn’t the tackle that sent Cane from the field receive the same treatment? In both cases the player ducked into the hit.

Reiko and Jordy showed how to finish a move against a tiring opponent. Truly twisting the knife.

A fine performance, 1 to 23, with a ball that must of been like a piece of soap.

Wilson should definitely have been binned based on the high tackle rule. IMO both tackles should just be penalties but that's the rule. Same with Barrett. He would have been fine but he lifted the forearm into the tackler. If he doesn't raise his arm he's fine.

The All Blacks were good but Australia were just god awful, especially in the first half. They desperately missed O'Connor and Toomua to steer them around the pitch. Australia is pretty clearly trying a lot at the moment, especially with trying to figure out their best personnel, with not much depth with international experience. They've got the horses, they just need to learn what international football is about.

The All Blacks kick chase was really good tonight which was good to see. Defense was better but hardly tested. Australia could hardly hold the ball for long enough to create pressure.

I am a bit concerned about the scrum, it's not really that great at the moment. Tu'ungafasi isn't consistent in the scrum and is giving away a lot of penalties as does Moody. We could really do with a few more decent props. Lomax and Hodgman look ok but it seems that the world has caught up with what Cron coached. Feek has some work to do, which he is capable of, he developed some pretty good props in Ireland.

LOL. Nasty? Good one. I have made observations inline with what many others online or pundits who are paid to provide their opinions on such things. It's certainly no worse than your (seemingly endless) critisim of NZR.

If you can't see the difference between the two posts, I am really not sure what to tell you.
