I am seriously considering taking my kids to Eden Park this Saturday. They enjoyed the last time we went. I am less enthused, but there is a 2-1 offer available now which makes the 2 kids $15 total.

2.30pm Gates open
3.00pm Black Ferns Sevens v. Australia Women
3.23pm All Blacks Sevens v. Australia Men
4.35pm Blues v. Waratahs
6.40pm Black Ferns Sevens v. Australia Women
7.03pm All Blacks Sevens v. Australia Men

That's an almost unbelievable value.

It was a great night out with my kids. Ended up right beside the tunnel which gave my kids a thrill to see the players up close. Both teams were good about saying hello, signing stuff and chatting with the kids. All the 7's games were enjoyable as well. All 5 games were a clean sweep to NZ, even when in the second games of the 7's the AB's 7's were down 19-0 and 19-5. Some determination and skill to come back from those scores, my Son could barely believe it. Fans were on the whole, much better behaved than prior visits to Eden Park and the entertainment and competitions during the non-playing time was really very good. All in all $40 in tickets (and $10 in fees!!!!) was exceptional value.

7's is a lot easier to watch than 15's from the stands I must say.

Finally, an almost complete performance by the Crusaders, and what a performance it was.

Richie Mo'unga is an absolute *freak*. A wizard by any standard. His 31 points on his own vs the Reds 28 says it all. They weren't easy trys either.

80 points scored in the match, 100% from the Tee by both teams.

Rugby like this is peerless I think.

The Reds didn't do much wrong to be honest, but the Crusaders totally exploited every mistake the the Crusaders forwards were on fire.

One thing I'd like to clarify. If anyone else watched the game, why was the Reds 3rd try, a try? The ball is kicked, hits a Reds players hands, falls on the ground, rolls towards the Crusaders line, is picked up and scored. Surely, that is a knock on?

What a nice box set of Kiwi wins this weekend! All the teams stepped up.

Both the Crusaders and Chiefs have shaken off the post finals dip. No1 plays No1 and No2 plays No2 and both comprehensive wins. In the case of the Crusaders, the score line was only flattering to the Reds because the Crusaders were exhausted at 70 minutes from scoring so many tries:-D And Mo’unga was just gold. (91 points total from the two sides scored in the match?)

Of all the games that I thought may have been in the balance prior was the Chiefs/Brumbies one. But a change of tactics from the Chiefs, eschewing the penalty goal attempts to go for the lineouts? Certainly paid dividends.

Im a little disappointed that the Blues didn’t dominate the Warratahs more, but they secured the maximum match points, so that is the aim I guess.

Great to see the NZ players really enjoying the games once they had a secure lead.

I guess given the lack of improvements in the Warratahs performances since the sacking of Rob Penney, it wasn't (primarily) a head coaching problem after all. Who knew!?

Where were the howling accusations of cheating against the Highlanders for their continual killing of the ball and being offside a *lot* against the Force. No cries of angst that they weren't carded for many cynical penalties they gave away?

Charge downs are an exclusion to the knock-on rule.

I always thought a charge down was OK so long as it didn't touch the hands and roll forward, apparently not. I'm sure I've seen charge downs called back for knock-ons but perhaps the circumstances were different, I can't clearly recall.

Maybe it is the extra travel burden of the journey to Perth, but the Force seem to have performed the best so far against NZ teams (the Chiefs just scraping a win and the Highlanders ‘only’ winning by 10).

I had to laugh at the suggestion (in the Oz media) that the Aussie finalists got the the raw end of the deal having to travel to NZ only a week after their final. While the NZ champions got to play at home a week after their final, the runners-up had to travel all the way to Perth and play at what their body clocks would be telling them was midnight. So boo-hoo, suck it up.

I think there should really have been a week's break between the two competitions. How often do teams have a grand final followed by a hard match the following week? No wonder the quality wasn't that high.

I am in the weirdest position of thinking it's a bad idea for Australia to be this far behind us in Rugby at this level at least, and not wanting them to beat us at the same time.

There is talk that Australia is trying to change the type of Rugby they are playing and this, like when the AB's tried to 'fix' the rushing defense, means we go backward first, but I don't really see much different about the Australian style of Rugby.

I am not sure what some Aussie commentators are smoking, suggesting that AU drop out of any trans-Tasman super rugby plans and continue to play just AU. Clearly, that has left them with a fairly decent sized gap as displayed in the past 2 weeks.

I can understand they aren't loving AU teams getting smoked 10 times in 10 games (though some were closer than others admittedly), but surely that just demonstrates the need for them to play a cross section of opponents?

Sky is still showing the Highlanders game originally scheduled for Sunday 3pm, which is now, Sunday 5pm as the original time. Does anyone know what is intended here?

Yeah, I knew it had been moved and the time slot updated, but Sky was still showing the original game and time slot at the time of my post. It's updated now.
