Batman:

not a red card eh

I was looking for the Tui billboard.

I guess the sanction for direct head on head contact with no mitigation must have changed during the week.

Retallick didn’t return afterward (failed HIA), the Irish player last week did.

There was also a shoulder direct to the head by Bundi Aki on Tuungafasi (?) that saw him go off for a HIA (failed) that wasn’t even examined let alone punished.

I like Wayne Barnes and think he is a good referee but I was scratching my head over the card decision.

Ireland were easily the better team 15 on 15. I got to wonder why the ABs kept on with kicks that were clearly not working.

Still time for some magic from Will Jordan, Akira Ioane and Ardie Savea during the game. But that magic was more than matched by the Irish tries.

Some soul searching to be done before next year’s RWC.

I commented on this at the time. Pretty clear to me but not a great deal of replays. Dunno what the tv team were doing not replaying that several times on the big screen at the game.

For me Cane failed to stand up as captain when that yellow card was issued. He needed to be in Barnes face comparing to last week's red card and putting the pressure on him.

Same here. It really felt like there had been a really different message sent to the refs this week.

It was pretty similar to the one from Scott Barrett, which was not penalised, in the first test.

JPNZ:
I think the Irish are going to show us up in a game or two the same way England did in the world cup.

Called it back in May. All blacks beaten up in the forwards again, Ireland by far and away the best team over the 3 games.

I still believe our backs are superior. Our forwards, however, were beaten up again, quite badly

Whatever Foster was thinking leaving Taukei'aho out of that game was a major oversight.

It should have been Coles and Taukei'aho at hooker for that game. We really need to find another hooker asap to partner Taukei'aho at the World Cup. Coles and Taylor are done. Maybe Eklund.

Now is the time to get De Groot, Williams and Newell in and keep Ross for the front row. Dixon needs to come in to the second row if you're going to keep Scott Barrett at 6. Cane needs to go, Savea to 7 and Sotutu to 8.

Get rid of Christie and bring Weber back who should never have been dropped.

Need to fit Jordie in somewhere for his long range kicking, but probably too late to start a midfield experiment for him now.

Rest of the backs I'm pretty happy with in general.

Smith and Jordan would be the only backs certain to make a combined 15.

If you believe that you're deluded.

What you're saying is that if you gave Farrell both backlines only those two would make it?

Gibson-Park, Aki and Lowe would never make the ABs. That's why they left. Jordie and Reiko both better individual players than their opposites.

Coaching meant they didn't show that. Playing guys out of position means they didn't show that. Confusion and dropping confidence means they didn't show that.

Man for man they are more talented players than the Irish. Unfortunately they've have not been in an environment that has brought that out.

You are what you you are. Ireland has proven to be the superior backline.

To some extent. It also shows the difference between international rugby and Super Rugby.

A player like Aki isn't the most talented player in the world but he has size, commitment and has continuously improved.

He's not just a runner anymore. His combination with Sexton was outstanding tonight.

Australia will be disappointed with their result. They did enough to win but didn't finish well enough.

South Africa battered Wales in the most South Africa way possible. Wales were pretty lucky not to have a heap of guys in the bin, they conceded 8 of the first 9 penalties.
