It’s an interesting springbok team. Marx is starting and they’ve stuck with Wiese at 8. Both their front rows are terrific, especially with them sticking with a 6-2 bench. Being able to change the entire tight 5 is such an advantage.

I wonder if we will follow suit with 6-2 or perhaps a 5-3. Our main issue appears to be with the forwards right now, it's the area that probably needs the most focus and I imagine Jase Ryan has been hard at work and keen to see what results he can deliver.

With that combo on the bench if they get a few injuries in the backs they could be struggling in that area... the usual 5-3 gives you a far better balance on the bench.

If we do manage to win one of those tests it's going to be mainly due to Ryan's work with the forwards & the work Schmidt has put in.

ROFL.

Hilarious ! how is Foster going to contribute to the team over in SA other than stuff us up even more... do you even realize he's way out of his depth as an AB head coach ?

Not at all - but you sound out of your depth at analysing the game... why would you want to keep supporting him as head coach when he obviously doesn't learn from his mistakes, strategy wise he's added nothing as well, in fact his own strategy is very poor.

The situation we find ourselves in with the AB's is extremely multifactorial. Your attacks on Foster are exhausting.

Can we have a short break from the constant slagging and see how we go in SA?

Phew!  Now that the CIA have finally taken out Ayman al-Zawahri, they and the international anti-terrorist community can focus properly on Ian Foster.

On another note, I see The Breakdown cast read Geekzone and follow this thread.  Interesting to see them repeating my calls for moving Jordan to fullback and Reiko to wing.  They were also nearly verbatim around my analysis of the dilemma at 6, where we could leave Barrett at 6 after being successful there, but risk throwing Vaai'i in against those Bok locks - or we could shift Barrett back in and go for a smaller 6.  Possibly a slightly undercooked Frizell.  Interestingly, they (like me) didn't reach a firm answer to nthat one.

Not slagging, just saying he's doing a poor job... even a lot of the media overseas are saying he shouldn't be the ABs head coach.

Basically In the 1st test want to see us execute much better at the breakdown area, also our forwards need to take the ball through a lot more phases, making them tackle more to try & tire them out, then our backs can get better front foot ball to attack from, also we want better option taking with accurate execution from our 9 & 10.

It's totally slagging when you give someone no credit for anything good, but slam them for everything that is bad.

Anyways, I think you need to give it a rest, we get your feelings on the matter it would be good if the thread had a little less of that and more of general discussion at least until there has been a chance for the changes that have been implemented, have a chance to settle in.

Heh, I thought Barrett would go well at 6, but the bulk of 'fans' rubbished the idea simply because the last time we tried it we lost to England. I think he is proven he can play 6 well, it's really whether they/he sees that as a long-term option. We aren't that flash at Lock either and he is one our better ones. I guess time will tell. I don't really rate Frizell and even less since his assault conviction.

I am hoping we will see better from our team just as a result of less illness/injury and hopefully with a few more tests under their belt and with a change in direction with forwards coach.

It's astonishing that you don't know the diff between slagging & poor coaching.

I mentioned what we basically need to do in the 1st test tactically etc, but all you could do was moan about the other stuff.

If Rieko Ioane is going to start it should be on the wing - reckon Jordon would do a top job at 15 - that gives us the option of moving Jordie Barrett to midfield where he played really well for the Canes, so I'd have a J.Barrett/Havili midfield combo, we haven't really had a settled midfield, so shouldn't really be an issue... I'd keep Scott Barrett at lock & play Akira Ioane at 6

Who misses out on a wing position in that reshuffle?

You’ve made it clear what you think, it’s boring now and killing the thread.
