No point Scott Robertson taking over as head coach unless he can select his own squad... the next best option is Schmidt as head coach & Ryan as his assistant.

Whatever way you put it, was a ridiculous comment, shows how deluded he is.
And it also ignores the first Ireland game where NZ appeared to have a game plan especially on attack with the three-off pass to counter rush defense which worked really well. The problem with the Foster criticism is that it focusses on this year but there results under Foster have been well below par for years. The results at the end of last year were alarming enough and the Ireland series should have been a "fight for your job mate" rather than the SA Tour...
There were huge warning signs after those two very bad performances against Ireland & France on that tour... that's when he should've been replaced.

IF the All Blacks got a new coach soon, would the new coach be allowed to repick the whole squad on the spot?
Surely you would want an entire squad that will fit your strategic vision, not attempt to put square pegs in round holes.

Exactly. The social media frenzy is way over the top. It's only very recently that NZ buried an elite cyclist who took her own life. Do we keep on pushing till that happens in top level rugby? Foster and Cane might get paid to put up with this (and that's a pretty big 'might'), but what about their wives, children, parents etc?

A key point for me in that good article is ""All of these are key attributes that you need to have functioning well to make you hungry for that victory, and not defensive and just focused on avoidance of failure.""
The pressure from the public and the media to uphold the legacy and get results must be huge. It can be quite a spiral to dig yourself out of. There is never much between top players/teams in elite sport. Whats now between the ears caused by the public scrutiny is probably now a barrier.
Back to basics, keep it simple
It's taken us a while to get to this point, it's going to take a while to dig ourselves out of it. Do I believe Foster is the right guy for that? Less so now than a month ago, but I still believe that the performance on Sunday was 80% the players fault. No chance is Foster saying that dropping balls cold, being isolated for turnovers, not cleaning out accurately or fast enough, or failure at set piece is acceptable. New coaches have been brought in, but any changes take some time to take effect. I think there were a number of areas there were improvements in. Our Maul defense and general defense was pretty good compared to earlier in the season.
Two tries we conceded were off horrible bounces and desperation rugby at the end.
Like most fans, I am discouraged to see us in this state, but credit needs to be given to how well SA played, and the impact that had on us. If we can just fix our catch and pass skills and get better under the high ball, things might be better this coming week.
My point of view. The three places we have big issues are
1) Front row - it is weak, and it is affecting retention at set piece - big issue! Foster has been too worried about "fitness", so much so that his forwards ability to do what 80% of their job is has been affected.
2) Sam Cane - No issue with his captaincy, although would be good to see more pressure applied to referees on occasions, like offside lines, as these rush defences are boarderline often. My real issue is that he is OK as a leader, but he is definitely not the best 7 we have, and I would argue he isnt the 2nd best either. So we are weakening our pack to carry him, and his captaincy is only OK, not exceptional.
3) Centers are buggered. This is a continuation of the end of Hansens final years. NZ rugby made a big mistake offering Laumape less money and him leaving. Now we are stuck with the attempt of putting Rieko in a position he isnt that good at, and makes his form look average
I do feel we were unlucky on occasion with that test, for example the relieving penalty against Frizell inside their 5 was utter BS, and Gardner had his back to the Springboks, they had clearly moved off their line. Ultimately we need a better game plan against the rush defence.

Schmidt has made clear he does not want to travel outside of NZ, and that's a non-starter, so I can't see how he could take over.
Was just giving us our next best option though, also people have been known to change their minds in these type of situations, if that was the case he'd only have to run the team for about a year... maybe Ryan could be head coach, then he could choose someone from outside the AB staff that he works really well with ?

We all know the news media will do anything they can to keep a story going as long as possible, this is where the bulk of this stirring is coming from - in general the NZ rugby supporters have good insight & are giving constructive criticism, they can see how badly we have played over a pretty long period, also know where adjustments need to be made to get us back on track again, makes it very frustrating that we keep making the same mistakes, as well as continuing to use poor tactics etc... have no time whatsoever for the ones that aggressively abuse the coaches, players & their families, they are obviously complete morons.
Handle9: There is a huge difference between being the organ grinder and being the monkey. Good assistants aren’t always good head coaches and vice versa.
Funnily enough there’s a very good argument that Foster fits this into this category.
Absolutely agree, it's like great ABs don't always make good head coaches, only have to look at John Kirwan & Tana Umaga... but were are in a very difficult situation, so if Fosters gets fired what's going to happen ? Scott Robertson will only do the job if he can select his own squad, which is completely understandable, if he isn't allowed to do that, then the next logical choice is Ryan or bring in another couple of coaches to do the job.
He can't make it any worse, we a real shambles as it is... or we could bring in another head coach & assistant.
