Scott Robertson will only do the job if he can select his own squad, which is completely understandable, if he isn't allowed to do that, then the next logical choice is Ryan or bring in another couple of coaches to do the job.

if that be so, then the ABs are bordering on commercial commodity and beginning to lose touch as a max performance sports team

HOWEVER, if the ABs win on Sunday against all odds we won't be needing to discuss this

Foster has said there is something special coming. That could be marketing. If they lose, no surprise, his hole just gets deeper. If they win, its his special something. The All Blacks are back. They say a win is a win, but the sport I watch I look for the quality. If the AB's won after getting the run of the green, you need to look at the overall performance, a win isnt a win, its just a result. Is it sustainable? RSA and IRE didnt play amazing rugby, they just played solid solid rugby, ticked all the boxes, made minimal errors. Thats what we need to do, get back to basics. Then whatever skill level and decision making ability we have, compared to others,  will stand on its own.

As usual I don’t agree with everything Squidge says but he really is one of the most interesting guys around.

Just like last week, as soon as the team is named I'll have a pretty good idea if we win or lose. Minor changes from last week and we'll lose again...

Foster saying something special is coming has to be a joke, backs against the wall against Ireland and nothing came, all the pressure 1st game in SA and nothing happened again.

The thing most AB fans are failing to realise is this week the all blacks play in what is possibly the hardest venue in the world to play in, Ellis park is 1742m ASL and its the home of South African rugby. There is roughly only 80% of the usual oxygen at the venue. Ellis park has been labelled by some players as hell on earth, the All Blacks are playing at their "garden of eden" and I would be very surprised by a win.

Most likely why the TAB has opened South Africa $1.47 - New Zealand $2.70

There were some interesting stats from the game last week. It wasn't all bad. We beat a lot more defenders than they did, but didn't close those opportunities. There is a definite air of desperation from the players to put a good performance on, and that pressure is leading them to mistakes.

I don't think we are as far off as people seem to think. We have *plenty* to work on, seems a huge list even, but it would only take 2-3 of those things to improve to potentially see a different result.

Handle9: Ryan has never been a head coach and has been involved in 1 test match. It would be a disaster.

Agreed. People think things can't get much worse. They could get *much* *much* worse.

We all know the news media will do anything they can to keep a story going as long as possible, this is where the bulk of this stirring is coming from - in general the NZ rugby supporters have good insight & are giving constructive criticism, they can see how badly we have played over a pretty long period, also know where adjustments need to be made to get us back on track again, makes it very frustrating that we keep making the same mistakes, as well as continuing to use poor tactics etc... have no time whatsoever for the ones that aggressively abuse the coaches, players & their families, they are obviously complete morons.

You don't think your criticism has bordered on this?

I posted it a couple of pages back, Cane, Beauden, Jordie, Angus T, Akira all have to go... If we proceed with a similar team to last week the results will be the same.

I'll say though even with some big changes, winning at Ellis park is going to be extremely hard.

I dont see it that way. This means that they picked a team that had 5 players that we now dropped, so why are we picking the best team for this weekend and not last weekend?

IMO its between the ears. Dealing with being down on points then not knowing what to do. Being rushed and not responding. Playing desperate.

Play the best players which is what we played last week, try to tidy up decision making errors. Dont choke under pressure, do what you do best.

Its a cliche but follow the process the score will look after itself.

My gut says last week was our big chance to win one. We have won at Ellis Park but it's rare, and only really with our best teams playing their best Rugby.  It's a big ask but not impossible for our current team in it's current state to win there. If they do, I believe that the players and coaches should receive a reprieve from the constant battering they have taken which won't be helping in the slightest way, toward correcting the issues they have. A win wouldn't indicate all is well, but it would indicate a willingness to dig incredibly deep.

I think Akira in his form for the AB's would be OK, but he doesn't seem to have had that this year as much. Would you swap Sotutu in ? Ardie for Cane? Whitelock as captain? (for this week I'd say it's critical you have the most experienced captain available, and as much as I like Ardie, I think he is better without Captaincy's responsibility).

re the above video:

just look at the size of those fellas

i keep telling people that as the muscle bulk keeps going up something's got to give

it seems we have lost finesse and flair

maybe we need to play like England and Jonny Wilkinson

There will be some injury enforced changes anyway, looks like Jordan who had a pretty average game last week, and Jordie are out. Players don't learn from making mistakes and getting dropped. Obviously, if they are clearly not able to get the job done that is something different.

This team needs to learn to win under adverse conditions, and you don't do that sitting on the sidelines. It's a fine balance between letting players 'develop' and making changes because the results aren't acceptable to your fans.

I agree right now it's between the airs, which seems to be affecting accuracy, and if accuracy improves, then results should improve. Improvements will lead to confidence and confidence leads to winning.

Obviously, we need to develop tactics at the same time. It's not an easy job.

Agree with all that. I feel most mistakes I saw last week were rushing and playing catchup, so not so much "errors" but how they handled the pressure. The handful of passes to thin air too. If they can fix the mindset, that would solve a lot of issues IMO

That's an utterly ridiculous comment... I'm giving constructive criticism.
