It will be an entirely different game when the AB's play the Boks in JHB.

Enjoyed the game last night. Was like watching good old fashioned rugby for a change.

You think the AB's will get beaten in SA?

networkn: Wow what a game between NZ and SA! I felt sick when DC went down, and it looked terrible at first glance but upon review it looked perhaps marginally high. I didn't think it deserved a card, but the second instance was yellow, and he really should have been a little more careful. The TMO did hand it back for the ref to make the final decision.

I agree with Gregor Paul that it wouldn't have significantly changed the outcome, we played better rugby and pretty much beat them everywhere, including a masterful effort by our forwards. I don't really rate Beauden Barrett, but boy did he stand up in DC's place, what a great display he put on. Sam Cane also was awesome.

It's amazing that we can beat the Boks with DC, ID, and RM missing from our line up.

AU Rugby should be REALLY worried, they barely won at home against Argentina!

See DC is out till November !! Great news is that Tom Taylor will be the new backup, we really need his boot.

There was nothing at all in the tackle. I believe the ref only went upstairs to check the fight afterwards. IIRC he said "I've got a high tackle with no arms, but can you see if there is any foul play after" or something along those lines, so he had already made up his mind I'd say. Harsh play and it did ruin what was a pretty awesome game. As for Nonu getting sent off for yet another stupid tackle, I'm pretty much done with him. It's no wonder Super rugby teams don't want him, a team is supposed to rely on it's players to stand up and be counted when it really matters and it just seems as though he had brain fade after brain fade.

It is good Tom Taylor is getting the call up, he is currently playing a lot better than Colin Slade and deserves it. However, I'm sure Cruden will be back for the next test meaning it will be him and Barrett in the gameday squad.

And yes I didn't watch much of the Aus v Arg game but the final score seems they only just got away with it.

Apart from the fact that the ABs were playing 14 men for an hour after Du Plessis was carded, quite simply atrocious refereeing that if it had been applied the other way round would still be headline news in 2016.............Wayne Barnes forward pass grumble grumble grumble.

Potentially great game ruined but ok because New Zealand won

It was actually only about 30min (10min in the first half and 20min in the second). We then lost Reid about the 70min mark and Nonu in the 74th.

The thing with Nonu is, without him, I think we would have struggled, with the exception of his brain fade moments he is an excellent rugby player, his kicking has really helped the AB's a lot. I imagine he is a handful to manage at anything under AB's but they do seem to get the best from him. It is getting old him getting sent off, and almost without fail it's the same identical tackle.

Agreed. I am surprised that people think it would have changed the game THAT much, we did outplay SA, our forwards are every bit as capable as theirs and continuing to run into contact instead of into holes wasn't going to get them anywhere. Our defence was also better.

Their rolling mauls are the best in world rugby however. We need to find a way to sack the first player to defeat it before it gets moving.

Probably not. But I think the score will be a lot closer.

I'd be inclined to agree. Having said that I haven't called a game correctly close vs easy win for a while, the AB's really trick me every time. I thought us against Agentina should have been a thrasing, and it was uncomfortably close, and I thought us vs AU should have been closer and it was a hiding. I thought there would be under 10 points last night....

I was pissed off at the first yellow card. When he got sent off I stopped watching as at that time it wasa waste of my time just give theabs 5 points and everyone should go home

Spent a lot of my time laughing outright at the mistakes like Read's missed try and laughing ruefully at the referee's mistakes.

I was disappointed that the Springboks didn't look like winning despite being vaunted by the press after beating the Wallabies. Their forwards didn't dominate the All Black forwards apart from the first scrum. Their passing on attack was unimpressive despite managing to be better coordinated against the Wallabies.

The All Black tackling was really fearsome for much of the game. They were also much more effective at creating attacking opportunities.

[Edit: fix grammar]

While I agree that the referee's view of the tackle was overzealous, the game just reinforced my opinion that the Springboks are a bunch of thugs. There is a fine line between being a 'hard man' and thuggery. Nonu once again proved to me that he has the potential to lose us a test with mindless thuggery of his own.

One comment made in another forum got me reconsidering the first yellow card.

DuPlessis was offside when he made the tackle. It didn't give DC enough time to brace himself nor get himself in a position to avoid an awkward fall. The tackle itself was ok, but the fact he made such a tackle, when he was offside which caused a player a major injury should have been enough to CONSIDER a yellow card.
