What has this got to do with the board, it's not a governance issue? It's a straight operational matter handled by the management.

But the trouble is that absolutely no-one in the NZR hierarchy realised there was a conflict. It just shows that NZR have a token approach to women's rugby and that significant change is actually required at all levels. You cannot ignore/pay lip service to 50% of the community.

It was a poor error and one they will learn from, but it certainly doesn't show a token approach at all. Womens Rugby World Cup is being *hosted* in NZ and we are paying our female players for the first time ever. It's not getting equal footing with the mens game but it's well beyond token now.

I don't understand the online commentary about Dmac not being in the match day 23 and ALB not starting!

Dmac was called in as injury cover only, and so was Patrick. ALB is coming back from injury and almost always, are introduced off the bench.

I haven’t seen many complaints about ALB not starting. I’ve seen a ton of complaints about Ennor being terrible.

We haven't played for 5 weeks - that clown Foster wasted a good opportunity to give most of the incumbents a run... say about 40 minutes each, we would've performed far better as an unit, also would've given then some match fitness going into the Welsh match.

Our general/tactical kicking from 9, 10 & 15 was awful.

But if you try something and it’s not working, don’t you just have to keep trying it? (/s)

Starting a backline with Christie, Mo’unga, RTS, Ennor, Clarke, Reece and Perofeta, when you have Smith, Havili and ALB on the bench shows how little respect the coaches had for the Japanese team.

Having said that, the RTS -> Reece offload that led to Reece’s try was pretty to watch.

I got more entertainment from the Black Ferns, the Blackcaps and SVG (GC500) yesterday than the ABs.

I agree with you on the kicking. The problem wasn't just the kicking but the kick chase. Reece was about the only one showing any signs of energy in that regard.

We always play our 'B' team against teams viewed as B-class opponents. It's a way for us to try new unexpected combinations and give fringe players time in the saddle. We usually comfortably win those matches and that was anything but comfortable. Japan aren't easy beats any longer. They have beaten many of the top-tier teams and pushed France (who also played a B team against them) to within 5 points.

It wasn't great, nor great to watch and I would have expected better, even taking into account 5 weeks of no Rugby (Which traditionally does make us a fair bit rusty) , and unfamiliar player combinations and late withdrawals by some players. Having said that, we played with 14 for 15 minutes in Japan throwing everything they had at us, and still won.

Cane being out for the rest of the Tour will hurt us. He is leading the breakdown stats for us week in and week out, and despite not getting as many turnovers as the likes of some others, when he doesn't play, we don't look as good in the forwards.

I haven't watched the ABs game, but looking at the score, and the news report last night, I'm kind of glad I didn't watch it live (I might have popped a vein!).

The Black Ferns game was great though - really enjoyed that. Much less whistle in the women's game.

Bring on France - that will be a real step up for them, but hopefully they can keep them moving and go round them. The Scrum on Saturday night was also much improved - the Welsh scrum got smashed in the end.

I also loved watching the Black Ferns. I am worried by their continued handling errors. Against a better team it could really cost them. Wales weren't in the fight, but I would be very surprised if France don't put up a much stronger fight in general.

One of the reasons there was less whistling in the BF game was the referee allowed Wales to get away with blue murder almost the entire game. It wasn't until perhaps the last 15 minutes that Wales were penalized for breakdown infringements that Cocksedge was blowing up about the entire time she was on the field.  On the other side, the Black Ferns got away with at least 4 forward passes. They haven't yet mastered their fast game, and passes are beating the players in many instances or not going to hand.

True, every ruck there were Welsh players laying all over the place on the BF side.

Slowed the ball quite convincingly. Hopefully the BF coaching team gets in the refs ear before this weeks game.

Careful. Stats don't back up the 'Cane is useless' argument the Neanderthals like to trot out after every game.

Eagerly awaiting artblokes response.

Don't I know it!

Retallick deserves a ban in my view, but that won't help our tour either.  I don't feel he has been as good as he was for so long, but there is a gulf in my view between him and Whitelock and the next available locks. People always seem to give Romano a bum steer for being one dimensional, but he clears bodies and makes the advantage line as well as any lock in the country (not advocating for his recall).

What utter nonsense... amazed you can't see how incompetent he is.

It's obvious to work out why the NZRU let Foster keep his job, other than they were too arrogant to admit they were wrong - the NZRU had to get two coaches in to fix his mess... plus they would've had to pay the head coach & his staff out of their contracts, then again pay out more money for replacement staff for Schmidt & Ryan.

Stats are not everything Einstein - how do you rate flair, great ball handling skills, a piece of brilliance created by a player to score a try etc in a stat ? ...A.Savea has all these qualities, great work rate, pace & flair.
