Fair point, thought he'd rapt an arm around him, but he didn't... the Japanese player was very low on the deck though.

We all know the laws, but some of them put in place are ludicrous, take the one where the defending team gets to have a long droppie downfield from behind their goal line that allows the take take a lot of the pressure off... whereas the attacking don't get to have a scrum 5 metre out from their goal line, missing out on good opportunity to apply plenty of pressure to score a try or kick an easy 3 pointer.

The rule that you can't make contact with the head and shoulders and neck is not a ludicrous rule. If the player is too low to clean out legally, then don't try and clean them out. Reform the defensive line and look for an opportunity to clear the next ruck effectively (and legally)

It was brain explosion on Brodies part and he is fortunate to be playing against England IMO.

Didn't mean a player making contact with shoulders/neck was a ludicrous one, of course it isn't... was talking about that silly rule where the defending team are allowed to drop out long from behind their goal line to take pressure off, when it should've been a 5 metre scrum to the attacking side.

It will make the conversation clearer if each topic of discussion or change of point of discussion is kept separate.

Thought I was pretty clear... anyway, no one wants to see dangerous tackles around the head area.

That's the trouble with sports forms or any other forum, you can't always explain what you really mean, that goes for all of us - it's a completely different situation if you talking to someone in person, as you can say & show them exactly what you mean, so there's no misunderstanding, but on most occasions the forum communication works out fine.

Article is blocked, not going to subscribe to the Herald just to read one article... can you copy & paste it here, or give me the main points they mentioned, then we can debate it.

We know in the modern game you can't play your incumbent players constantly, but it's no good resting them too much either... from what I've seen of Fosters coaching in that area he definitely hasn't got the balance right.

It basically outlines what the head coach of the AB's actually does vs what most people think his day-to-day responsibilities look like.

Given the gulf between our first and second choice team in most positions, and how few 'real' tests there are between now and France in the RWC opener, I am pretty concerned many of our second string team are going to end up undercooked.

We have had a very disrupted cycle, essentially missing an entire year that the Northern Hemisphere haven't missed as much of, and a pretty difficult set of injuries and challenges.

I'm expecting a tough northern tour if I am honest.

New Zealand played 6 tests in 2020, England played 9 and had far more covid disruption as players were effectively confined to their rooms when they weren't playing or training.

The northern hemisphere teams didn't have it any easier, the southern hemisphere teams have been weak this cycle and New Zealand lived in a false sense of superiority.

Rather than playing too many inexperienced players together in a match, reckon those players would benefit much more by playing a few of those players at at a time along side the experienced players in a game.

Yeah, it's certainly not going to be an easy tour... Wales will be a big challenge first-up.

Wales should be a fairly comfortable win. If it's not we've got real problems. Their scrum is very average and their breakdown work has been pretty poor under Pivac. Biggar being out is a big issue for them and it's likely Taulupe Faletau will be out as well.

Wales are normally pretty good, especially at home, but I'll go by you, sounds like you're well up to date with them... but we will probably be a bit rusty, blokes like the 3 Barrett brothers, Whitelock, Savea & a few of our other incumbents haven't played any rugby for 5 or 6 weeks.

When the ABs are not playing any tests delegating by the head AB coach to his staff is very important, and helps takes some of the stress off the head coach.

They had a strange six nations, running England and France close but losing to Italy and getting pumped by Ireland. They did quite well in South Africa but they haven't won many games under Pivac unless the opposition get someone sent off.

That could be good news for us, if we can put Wales under really good pressure early, force them into mistakes, we could have a decent lead by halftime, also it would take their home crowd out of the equation.
