networkn: I think we will be without Lomax, Barrett, Rettalick and Frizzel.
tukapa1: Why would we be without Barrett?
Did you watch the game?

IIRC Red on the back of 2 Yellows, is an automatic 1-game ban?

If you’re talking about Scott Barrett, then the offence remained yellow on review, so no further sanction (at least according to the commentary). So I assume tukapa1 did indeed watch (and listen to) the game.
Haven’t seen any further reports on how serious Lomax’s leg injury is. I assume Joe Moody has his bags packed just in case.

Given how long my finger took to heal when it had a disagreement with a cheese grater recently, and that was with no contact, he may have been called already!

That's what I understand. No upgrade to red so no referral to judiciary.

Malcolm Marx was wiping blood from his brow just after the hit. Barrett came with speed and intention hitting a prone player with his shoulder on the head. Barrett will be cited by the foil play commissioner who will then decide if a suspension is required. It can go either way.

I can't find the reference, but I believe all red cards are referred automatically to the judiciary. I'm pretty sure it was BB in Super Rugby who got 2 yellows upgraded to a red neither was foul play and he got a 1 week ban.
My memory may be failing me, however, so I wouldn't bet my life on it.

heavenlywild: Not fussed.
If the ABs win the cup no one's gonna care about today's result.
Better lose now than later!
France game is going to be interesting.

In both the yellow cards for direct contact to the head, neither “victim” (Marx and Cane) was referred for an HIA. I would have thought any impact warranting a yellow card would mean the person receiving the contact should be assessed? After all, the rule is there for player safety and not just so the IRB has a defence against litigation…..

Under NZ rules (which Super Rugby is played under) two yellows = red is referred to the foul play review committee, which is a step below the judiciary. They can make a recommendation and if the player accepts then that is the end of it with no referral to the judiciary.
The foul play review committee deemed the red card was a satisfactory outcome for Beaudy and he received no suspension. It never went to the judiciary.
All I can find in the World Rugby rules is that two yellows = red may be referred to the judiciary, not will be referred.
Just watching Otago v Southland, and one of the commentators is the guy who usually does the rugby league games.
It sounds weird and is very disconcerting.

Oh my goodness!
If you thought the ABs game was a shock, Fiji just beat England 30-22, at Twickenham no less!
