networkn: Hmm apparently Guilford is considering using his out clause with the Warratahs to instead play within NZ. I wonder which franchise. I'd say the Highlanders wouldn't be keen. Crusaders might, but I suspect not, given what he put them through. Blues perhaps?  Can't see the Chiefs being keen and Hurricanes already have a full backline.

From a perspective teams perspective his erratic nature even shown in signing with the Warratahs and then backing out, would give me concerns.

I mean if he returns to the Crusaders, I'm ok with that, so long as they take a hard line with him.

I hope the guy has sorted it life out if he wants a black jersey. I thought the AB's had a pretty strict no dick head rule. Something the Ozzys have needed in the past few years too!

I don't think he has much chance at a AB's Jersey (and I'd be surprised if he really believes it would be in his best interest now too) . I don't think the guy is a Dickhead, he has a disease (Alcoholism).

100% Agree regarding Australia though.

What ever you want to call it, he has caused drama and unwanted media attention. There is little place for that in a national side.

Very brave of our PM. Good on him to go through with the previous bet.

Key had agreed to wear the green and gold kit if the All Blacks lost, which was part of a bet with the Australian journalist in Singapore where he was celebrating the city-state's 50th anniversary of independence.

But the wager has now gone one step further with Key agreeing to "double-down" with Morison and don a Wallabies jersey, hat and scarf if the All Blacks were unsuccessful on the field.

"I did text Richie yesterday and say, hey no pressure mate but I look better in black than I do in green and gold," he told TVNZ.

tdgeek: Interesting read, the key being that we have become predictable

no the reason they were beaten because they weren't adaptable, according to the assistant captain and the assistant coach. they kept trying to do what the had practiced to perfection in training, no matter what, even though it wasn't working, and got even more frustrated and tried harder to do it. LOL

I haven't read every post in this thread, but haven't seen this mentioned - did anyone else have an issue with how the Aussies won their turnovers at the breakdown?  It seemed to me that on our ball, they rarely if ever gave our guy the opportunity to cleanly release the ball.  That they didn't get pinged for it lead to two results - either we were stripped of the ball, or we were penalised for not releasing.  On their ball they simply piled over the top and sealed it off.  There was also a lot of off the ball cleaning out that similarly went unpunished.

I got the distinct impression that we were holding off for fear of getting penalised.

I'd have to agree with other comments though - the lack of a Plan B was a bit alarming, unless the ABs were specifically instructed to pursue Plan A against all odds as some sort of live training exercise.

i have given up on the referee's rule book in rugby. there are so many million sub clauses to each rule that i don't know what's allowed and what's an offense anymore. even Justin Marshall gets it wrong sometimes, so i read.

generally if the teams are unhappy with the referee we all know about it. if there is no moaning it doesn't mean there isn't unpunished offenses, of course, but in general the referee applies his version of the law to both teams, and if he does, people generally don't moan other than on the internet.

Interesting, apparently Nahaolo got some witch doctor treatment in Fiji and will be good to go for the RWC.

I predict a more serious break in his immediate future if he plays without healing properly!

not witch doctor, alternative medicine.

contemporary medicine is based on rich people doing "studies" - give everyone with osteoporosis some medication that makes bone denser. first decade: awesome, all bones appear to get denser. second decade: awesome, hey presto they break less often. third decade: hang on, they break more ... 4th decade: to be decided

alternative medicine is based on no rich people doing "studies" - random guy rubbing herbs on Waisaki. will it work? who knows! will it do harm? who knows! it doesn't mean it won't work, you just need to find out for sure. but yes, if he sells you pills for $1 each and say take 1 a day it makes you live longer ...

Same thing!

I'll take anything involving "studies" over anything involving "feelings" every single day of the week, and twice on Sundays!

If there was really a magic reputable cure for broken bones, western medicine would have already adopted it.

Who needs to be adaptive?  I can't take what the coaches say as the facts may differ from the media friendly reply to the masses.

Coaches will devise gameplay and set pieces, if things dont go to plan, do they have another plan? Richie is the coach during the 80 minutes. So, did the coaches fall short on ideas, or did Richie fall short in adapting to these in-game, or did the players not play with their standard skill level and deliver? Hard to know, maybe it will turn up in a book one day. Our game is well known, we are predictable, others watch what we do and devise counter measures, we need to be a step ahead of that.
