ok good point.

but it was still legal. (making an offside tackle resulting in an unfortunate injury does not make it a yellow card does it?? surely!)

it was an unfortunate incident.

that took away for me what would have been the most exciting rugby match of the season so far instead i awarded 5 points to the ABs and watched particle physics lectures on youtube

I am not certain of the rules but I believe it has the potential to be yellow if it's an offside tackle, I've seen yellow for early and late tackles in the past.

I think the problem is that reasoning for the first yellow was wrong, but it's possible the yellow wasn't entirely wrong in the fullest sense.

I enjoyed the game regardless, I am surprised to see people saying it ruined it for them

I think Romain Poite ruined the game. I'm sure if the tables were turned you guys would feel the same?

Saying that it was a still a great game to watch (one of the best I have seen in a while) and I don't believe he influenced the end result very much.

Dingbatt: While I agree that the referee's view of the tackle was overzealous, the game just reinforced my opinion that the Springboks are a bunch of thugs. There is a fine line between being a 'hard man' and thuggery. Nonu once again proved to me that he has the potential to lose us a test with mindless thuggery of his own.

It was a good game of old fashioned rugby.
Something we need more of.
Rugby has become to PC

Good old-fashioned rugby is thuggish as it is violent and brutal with a dose of law-breaking. Contemporary test rugby is not that far different.

I think that the amount of time taken up by scrum resets significantly reduced the time available for thuggery. So that was the least thuggish game I've seen from the Springboks for years. I thought they were rather subdued and the ABs were more combative. The ABs even started the big fight.

I'd be much happier to watch a game with no timeouts, scrum resets, free kicks, penalties, injuries and yellow/red cards.

Scrappy game but a bonus point win in the weekend for the AB's. Was one of Sam Canes best games and Ben Smith continues with his awesome stuff.

Another 2 Yellow Cards for SA in the weekend, I don't understand why they want to play rugby this way? If they keep it up, they will lose just because they have less players on the field. It's not tiddlywinks but it's also not a boxing ring. Time they show some discipline. If they want to beat the AB's they will have to play smarter rugby.

Australia. I just don't know what to say.... They missed 31 tackles, conceded 26 turnovers, made 10 handling errors and had a poor scrum. I am surprised the scoreline wasn't 50 points.

SA now need to win with a bonus point and by more than 7 points to take the championship (on points difference). I really can't see that happening.

I'm also really hoping to see the Argies step up and claim a win against Aussie. They stuck with us for 40-50 minutes before we took it up a gear. The way Aus has been playing lately, I can see it happening.

I'd almost like to see AUS take a break from International Rugby for 3 months and focus on core skills again. There is something rotten in that camp I believe, they play like 4 teams who are together, rather than 1 team.
Too much internal rivalry perhaps? Hard to know, but it's unfortunate, they are at risk of losing their top 3 position in world Rugby. I think Ewen McKenzie thought Robbie Deans was as dumb as a bag of hammers, and that
he had the magic, but clearly there is a LOT of work to be done.

Reading about people banging on buses and stones being thrown, is this what is considered good sportsmanship in SA? I can't imagine anyone behaving like that, I must admit to feeling anxious for the AB's this weekend.

Tell you what

Beauden barrett won us the game. Both the tackle and the try was the difference in the end

But the rest of the guys were on fire none the less

I felt like I played, I was on the edge of my seat for the entire time. Those last two tries we scored, I can't recall screaming louder at a screen in my lifetime.

BB was awesome, deserves a start over AC I think. The way he ran down Wille Le Roux was nothing short of outstanding! Reminded me of the James o'Conner run down of the Irish Winger in the RWC 2011.

The poor irish creamed the ABs for 80 minutes and still lost! About time we had some luck (missed penalty).

Best game of rugby all year! Or shall i say best performance by a ref all year.
