I suspect we'll see Clarke ahead of Reece in future line-ups. Both wings had an average night but Telea was still at least able to launch a couple of breakouts, even if he made the wrong 50/50 call almost every time he was running with the ball. Reece looked pretty indecisive on defence and was left completely flat-footed on one occasion.

We also didn't really make much of an impact with the short box-kick and I wish we'd stop doing it. The only reason we got away with it in game one is because McKenzie was other-worldly in the aerial contest area and you can't expect that kind of domination week-in, week-out. A team like South Africa will murder us with long territory-probing kicks and won't falter under the high ball. All we'll do is give away the ball with little more than 10m to show for it.

As usual, the answer to almost all of our problems is to select more championship-winning Aucklanders.

The problem for the woeful lineout was clearly Rieko Ioane. He must be dropped to enable Taylor to throw and Barrett to call better.

What a shambles.

Ireland vs SA.

Now THAT was a test match. One of the best I've seen in a very long time. THAT is what two good teams punching and counterpunching should look like. Significantly more intensity by Ireland, and less unforced errors made for a game that was much better to watch and less one-sided.

Again, SA slowing the match down, but hard to feel sympathy after watching Ireland come down here and do the exact same thing.

It was quite the finish and a lot of blood was spilled.

Lol. WHAT is THE reason FOR shouting?

Wild that your go-to is dropping Ioane and not Taylor, when Taylor is having probably his worst season in some time.

The decision to go with him and leave Ricky Riccitelli out is looking harder and harder to justify. Dropping Ioanie won't make Taylor better.

It’s as sensible idea as insinuating that Ioane was responsible for the attack problems.

Picking Taylor was ok, picking George Bell over Riccitelli is far far more debatable.

By the way Ioane wasn’t responsible for the attack problems.

I'll happily admit that Taylor didn't throw well in the last two test matches, a fundamental skill for a hooker.

The Ioane thing was a joke, hence the winky thing. He's perfect and had a great game and nothing is ever his fault.

Also, Scott Barrett has made a fool of me, we've now gone two games in a row without a single card, or from what I can tell, careless play infringement. He got pinged twice on Saturday, I think both for ruck infringements that were pretty minor in the scheme of things and I don't know if he conceded one at all in Game 1.

Long may it continue.

The lineouts were shocking and I think it's time to let Aumua start and see how he goes. Sevu Reece, defensively speaking, seemed all out to sea. Badly done for on the outside, he did not perform well. This weeks game should be interesting as we should see some of the squad members get some game time.

The U20's were fairly beaten by a rampant French side. I don't agree with the red card. No mitigation? The French player dipped to take the kick.  Oh well.

If we dropped every player who had a bad game, we wouldn't have any All Blacks. One 'bad' game from arguably the best back all year, feels like an over reaction.

It wasn't that long ago BB was skinned in a game, and if we had dropped him in favour of someone better, the outcome on Saturday night could have turned out differently.

People were calling for Carters head prior to RWC 2015, I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to be in charge of 10 during the finals!

I like BB as an impact bench player.  He has history playing this position, I want to see him stay there.  Its an 80 minute game and Saturday showed that.  I still believe we are weak at center, two wingers yada yada yada.  I am not sure who is better to drop in, but we are struggling there.  I thought Ratama had a great debut.  I like his speed in clearing, and would argue he is deserving over Christie of the number two spot, and equally number one while Roigard is injured.

It’s funny how we are weak at centre, wing and fullback. It’s almost like the problems have been with the 8 guys in front of them and the overall tactics rather than the players in the backs.

If any winger needs dropping its clearly Telea who was absolutely woeful on defense in that game. England's first try he had a head start on Feyi-Waboso and was closer to where the ball landed yet he still didn't make the effort to get back on defense and was beaten to the ball hence the try. The 2nd English try was Telea again failing to jump and attack the ball on defense, got out jumped and the try was scored.

Oh but he scored two tries, most NZ top level wingers would have scored the tries he scored. No good scoring two tries if you let two tries in. Perhaps he should stick to his preferred 14 jersey

Go and watch it again. Telea was 20m infield marking 3 players coming round the corner. Characterising him as not making an effort is inane.

Replacing Reece for Clarke because you are worried about defense is slightly... amusing :)
