Dingbatt: Sitting watching Eng v Fiji in Rarotonga at the moment, which incidentally is free to air here, courtesy of the NZ government.
The game has opened up a bit for now but initially my worst fears looked to be realized. First points from a scrum penalty, first try from a rolling maul and a try disallowed after being awarded after fifteen slow motion replays. Glad a piece of Nadolo magic happened straight after. I wish things would go a little more Fiji's way. Two missed penalties and one wrongly awarded to England at the end of the first half.

I guess the rest of the games will also be FTA Courtesy of the NZ tax payer while here in NZ the plebs have to pay to watch..

I recall hearing something like that, which doesn't sound right.  I believe the games the all blacks are playing in will be televised FTA, but not others. But for most people, those are the only games worth watching. NZ seems to place too much emphasise in the world cup. The majority of the games are poor quality as they are one sided, or played by minnows who aren't much better than a provincial NZ team. It is not until the quarters or semis that you start to get the good games, but even them you can still get mismatches. Also as it is a knockout tournament anything can happen, so it isn't always the best country that ends up winning it.

We didn't play very well but thankfully overran them towards the end and good to get a bonus point which could be important in this pool. Don't think Fiji will be easybeats for Wales or Australia either. The subs made the difference in the end. Both Vunipolas should probably start and was surprised Farrell didn't start. I know Ford played through the 6 Nations with Farrell injured but thought he'd still be great choice. Made a big difference to our attack. We'll certainly be battle hardened for the knockout games if we get through which is possibly an advantage of having a tough pool.

No, all the games are FTA here. It is a 50th anniversary gift to the Cook Islands. Surely if the best team won it each time, our team would have their name on the trophy seven times! I intend to follow most of the top teams through the magic of mysky since most of the game times are pretty unsociable.
Bit like the football world cup really. Brazil are the favorites most times but don't end up lifting the trophy.

RWC 2011 I watched every game, pool games and all. I had almost forgotten how much I enjoyed some of the games between the less prominent teams. I have just watched Georgia beat Tonga. The physicality on defence by Georgia is some of the most impressive I've ever seen. Almost every tackle they put on Tonga they pushed them back 1 or more meters. They defended every line out drive and MONSTERED the Tongan scrum. Watching them celebrate at the end and run over to grab the flag, was a touching demonstration of the strong patriotic streak that runs through many of these teams. Their captain was truly inspirational. Outstanding effort.

213 tackles made by Georgia to 48 by Tonga says it all

Hooray! After 43 minutes SA vs Japan, a try that didn't come from a rolling maul.
I reckon SA had two players detached in front of the ball for their first try.
Going to catch my flight now, but what a great game by Japan. They won't win, but totally different from the three figure scores they have suffered in the past.

Wow. watched the last 15 or so, when it was SA up 22-19. Japans skill was great, they did a 19 phase attack late in. I knew the final score but watching the closing stages you;d expect that ball handling would eventually cost, or too many phases but they held onto it well. Biggest upset in international rugby history they say, and it wasn't an accident. They didn't luck into a win

Well done Eddie Jones. Japan played like South Africa and bested their understrength team.

My condolences!

Would of been well within their rights just to take the shot at goal and the draw. But great courage to go for the win and it paid off for them.
