MikeAqua: I see there is quite bit of criticism of the ABs on Stuff etc after today's game.

Personally I think: -
Argentina played out of their skin and off their feet.
You know the other team is playing hard when Retallick appears to have a quiet game
The ABs played OK, but lacked finishing touches.
The ABs dropped 2 certain and two probable tries line (i.e 10 -28 points were butchered).
ABs poor recovery of kicks was a concern.
McCaw thoroughly deserved to be sent off (Sorry Richie but that was dumb)
Smith didn't. I'm not even convinced that was a penalty.  He was on his feet and seemed to join the ruck correctly.
The camera work so far in the matches I have sen has been pretty.

Sent off you mean red card?

I think it was inferred that he deserved his yellow card/sinbin

Ah, that's not what "sent off" refers to :)
Or maybe I'm confused.
Sent off = red card
Sin binned = yellow

You are confused. Sent off is not a technical term. It's a way to describe a player leaving the field for any disciplinary breach. Can be yellow (10) or red (rest of the game) depending on the infringement level.

TAB odds for Scotland vs Japan on Thursday are 1-16 and 4-50  (SCO/JAP)

If Japan had lucked in, got the run of the green, maybe, but I thought they played tops. You can't luck in a 19 phase run, and other attacks where they held on to the ball.
I'd have thought Japan at 1-60. That was no fluke

Re the Camera work. Pretty awful (compared to Southern Hemisphere coverage anyway).
Bad camera angles, I thought I missed a bit this morning because we were watching a lineout from the touchline, from an angle amongst other things.
Missed a couple of lineouts altogether.

maybe they are trying to be too flash.

Refereeing - in particular the TMO - is a nightmare. When was it decided that the TMO could butt in on a game? It must be a new thing because I have never seen it before and I don't remember reading about it pre WC. I don't think it is a bad thing per se, but it can seriously disrupt the flow of a game. I am very much against in ground replays/crowds (not TMO reviews) influencing the on-field referee (as happened in the FIJvENG game) - I feel that if a Ref blows his whistle with a decision, then that decision is final (for a try/penalty etc) unless the touchies (or even the TMO) has the flag out/has indicated an issue.

Thats a hard one

Cricket has it, tennis, rugger, its about accuracy. Similarly other sports have digital timing not stopwatches, accuracy. I've never considered it annoying or disruptive. Re trying the scrum four times, thats annoying and disruptive

If you want to go full on techno then it's only fair if each team gets a guy on the video and gets 2 reviews per half each.

Re camera

Most of the awful shots are ref cams.

ok correction the close up shots are not from the touch judges, yes very distracting bobbly sloping random sky shots

in rule 10.6 in page 74 sent off refers to a red card and a red card only

I always understood sent off as being just a red card. The equivalent term for a yellow card is being "sin-binned".

He wasn't sent off for the joining of the ruck, he was sent off for playing a ruck ball with his hand instead of a foot.

To be pedantic, he was penalised for playing a ruck ball with his hand, however he was sent off because it was a professional foul due to the position of the offence and the run of play.
