networkn: I hate that this competition is being held at hours so unsuitable for me :) (Yes I understand it was the opposite last time). It's making it hard to avoid the results before watching. I did manage a few times, but now given I am watching every game, I've resigned myself to knowing the results before I watch the games, something I hate.

We are in big trouble if our kicking doesn't improve. We have not been very disciplined in our past few matches and these guys who are kicking from the sideline and not missing, are making me nervous after fairly average displays by our kickers this year. DC is by far our best, if anything happens to him, we are going to be under the gun.

Hopefully BB is doing lots of practice. Alternatively, we can be more disciplined and not give away penalties :)

DC has been kicking very well, 6 from 6 in the first game I believe. Plus we prefer to score in sets of 7 rather than 3's.

Yes I agree, but you have just seen Wales beat England by a margin of 3. 1 or 2 Misses could be the end of us.

I am cup half full when it comes to the AB's, however I must admit watching the quality of kicking this tournament has made me a LITTLE anxious.

Kicking always decide RWC matches.

SA vs AB final 1995 15 - 12, drop goal the difference
Aus vs SA semi 1999 27 - 21, 2 drop goals the difference
England vs Aus final 2003 20-17 drop goal the difference
Fast forwards
France vs Wales semi 2011 halfpenny missed and Wales lost 8 - 9
Final 2011 France missed their penalty and ABs won 8 - 7

Dingbatt: However, I believe Ali Williams was right about the England supporters, who boos the opposition coach when he is shown on the big screen?

Nothing like the Kiwi supporters when they see Quade Cooper or, perish the thought, Wayne Barnes is the ref eh?

Wow what a game that was between England and Wales. What heart Wales showed.

Wales must now call for reinforcements. With a 48 hour stand down and a 4 day turn around, that is a huge ask, though they have the much easier of the next two games in this pool.

Farrell and Brown are the Danger men of England.

Wow what a loss for SA. Jean de Villiers retires from International Rugby after breaking jaw in game against Samoa.

I am not generally a fan of SA Rugby, I am a pretty fan of this guy, and I really feel for him.

He definitely should not be judged on the results of the past few weeks.

What is it with South African supporters wanting to join in the game?

I had a WTF moment when I saw a guy in jeans joining the ruck (from the side mind you). The ref did really well quickly diffusing that one, it looked like the Samoans were about to deal to him.

I feel a bit sorry for Robshaw, if they had scored from that lineout, the English press would be hailing him as a hero. The decision to take the lineout was good, the decision to throw to the front was bad.

I see Wales losing to Australia, but I also see England losing to Australia. Australia concern me the most (and Ireland) assuming the ABs can go all the way to the final.

I'll never forget at one of the games the AB's played recently in SA, Darren Shand had accidentally written the wrong hookers name on the game sheet and the ref was on the verge of refusing to let Dane Coles (or was it Mealamu) on the field, when JDV walks over to the ref to make a case for the AB's to have thier guy on the field. He had a big geniune smile on his face as he told the ref his team just wanted to play Rugby. It is the epitome of the guy in my opinion, and I feel I am almost writing his eulogy. Seems brutally unfair to have recovered from massive injury to make the squad, to have this happen.

Disagree. It was boneheaded. Robshaw is a rubbish captain. He is far to full of himself for my liking and his arrogance could well cost England their world cup QF chances. Not to mention they threw to the front of the lineout, which until I saw it I didn't understand the potential ramifications of, but afterwards thought... WTF?!

Coach killer!

He will be a better leader for that experience however, if given the chance to continue to lead.

I guess the difference is that Warren Gatland hadn't kneed Chris Robshaw in the head or missed a blatant forward pass that knocked England out of a World Cup. He was guilty of coaching a team, that on occasion, has beaten England.
'Comical Ali' was maligned in the press for his comments about England supporters. Sometimes the truth hurts.
I admit to being embarrassed by sitting in the Eden Park crowd listening to supporters chanting "Quade is a w.....r". But I haven't heard Michael Checka get booed by NZ crowds. Richard Hadlee endured similar to Cooper from Aussie crowds 30 years ago so it isn't anything new or geographically isolated.
'Ardent' fans shouldn't be offended when people point out their overzealous behavior. High level team sport is only as successful as it is because of the tribalism it generates.

Another good win by Oz overnight, but admittedly they have played the bottom two teams in the pool. The rubber hits the road next weekend.
