Interestingly I watched the last 20 minutes of the Tasman - Taranaki game last night. I thought it very interesting that David Havili is doing their kicking is 100% in 2015. Some of his kicks have been at the sideline as well, both sides, so I have been told. Maybe he can take over from Carter for the Crusaders in 2016.

Also on the other wing, Nandolo plays 10 for Fiji and does goal kicking. We also have the current 10 for Fiji playing for the Crusaders in 2016.

I think it will be a big year for NZ Rugby, 2016, it will be the first time we will have been tested by having to regenerate a team.

Dingbatt: Mooloo ole ole ole.
Second to bottom of the competition but Ranfurly Shield holders nonetheless.

Yup that was a good win to them. Another Yellow to Tameafuna though. The Chiefs will breath a sigh of relief next year when their two highest yellow card magnets won't be on the field. (I am not having a dig).

Just watched Canada v Romania. Unbelievable considering how Canada played the first half to watch them lose in the dying seconds of the second.

To be honest, these minnow matches have been really great to watch. Decision making seems to be the issue. If Canada passes one more time in most of their breaks, they are in uncontested, but they run into contact. I've watched it happen play after play game after game. They just don't seem aware of what is outside them enough.

If they fix that, they are top 10 competitors for sure. Also fitness plays a big factor for these teams.

Ridiculous!

Tonga should have been awarded a penalty try. Unfortunately that does come with a yellow card. Any other team would have gotten a penalty try. And if that wasn't funny enough he then stopped the game when Tonga was doing well and called half time.

Travesty.

PS let me add, it won't matter in the end anyway, coz it's the 46th minute and Tonga are tired. But they would feel so robbed!

Holding back for what?
Its a shame. We should be playing our best all the time and breaking previous WC records along the way.

Just re-realised something. Time changes things. Looks like Tony WOodcock has had it, run out of gas, probably for good. But we have discovered a revelation, in NMS (there could have been one or two more revelations, such is the strength of the squad on paper) - he could well be the difference in a tight match. And the bench perhaps.

I pretty sure they are holding back... a lot.

Just watching the games, all they are doing is passing the ball to the outside, I cant remember seeing a player running lines back on an angle. They only time they change direction is at the breakdown, where they head back to the other side of the field.

They are giving away nothing on their attack, makes it hard for a team to prepare to defend against them.

I recall we did that in 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007 - all to no avail

So make no mistake, in this year's knockouts, anybody can beat anybody. To win will need a bit of luck and a bit of refereeing helping hand. As always.

We did it in 2011. And it worked.

The pleasing thing from this game was that there seemed to be more clarity in what was being attempted. Even in the second half the plan seemed much simpler and more direct.

The forwards in the first half were hopeless, too casual around the breakdown and too wide. Coles needs to hit the rucks before he plays as a winger.

In the second half they were much better and then the backs started to flow. Naholo shouldn't play again in this tournament, it may have been a worth a punt taking him but it hasn't worked out.

Barrett an SBW are also really starting to fire which gives us a real lift off the bench. It was also Carters best World Cup game. Even in the first half he was running more and much more physical.

The way we got better through the game was promising. Now it's time to prove whether or not the team have gotten it right.

Yeah we got lucky. This time SH is trying not to rely on that. So let's see if his weird plans work. Or it could have been excuses for poor play, we may never know.
