networkn: BTW I stand by my claim that Ben Smith is a much better Winger than a Fullback. He isn't a bad fullback (though I haven't been overly impressed with him in the past 3 matches), but he is an EXCELLENT winger.

Our guys seem scared by the high ball. I may be incorrect, but I think we only took 1 cleanly against Tonga.

I believe the captain dropped more balls than everyone else combined.

Ever had a bad day at work? It happens. He isn't the world best #8 for no reason.

ludez: Ive never understood why ben franks doesnt get more game time?hes always solid in the scrums and makes lots of tackles and carries

He's not a patch on his brother, it's why he moved to Wellington, because he wasn't getting enough game time with Crockett and Owen considered first choices (At the Crusaders)

He is a good player, no doubt about it, but reasonably far behind the other two.

trig42: I haven't watched the IREvFRA game yet - those of you who did, what chance do you give Argentina against the Irish? The extra days off (and for the ABs too) may make a difference as well.

As for the ABs game v Tonga. In my view, the All Blacks came out in the second half playing their 'top' game. Play for territory, keep possession, release the backs when ready. DC had a good game, and the ABs look so much better when he attacks the line. SBW and Barrett were great off the bench also. Hopefully the squad is in their Happy Place, and the pieces of the jigsaw are coming together.

AUvWAL - Awesome defence by Australia, inept attack form Wales - no excuse for not getting points there. I think their Halfback to take the blame there. I still think they have a chance to knock SA over, but it will be hard.

Interestingly, I don't think that was their "top" game. Maybe 75-80%. I think potentially they have a LOT left.

Ireland are going to be without Sexton with Injury, O'Brien will go for the rest of the tournament for punching, and O'Connell too with Injury.

That will be a road too far for them unfortunately.

In their pre match news conference the French said they didn't want to face Argentina.

There would be more biting, groin grabbing, punching, kicking and tears than an episode of Shortland Street.

I watched 7 Days of Sport last night, I laughed so hard, it's VERY funny. Recommend it.

I didn't manage to watch 7DOS but I watched the highlights of the Ireland - France game. Looked like the French tried to "break" the Irish players ... and succeeded!

He isn't the best number 8 in the world at the moment. That would be Pocock. I'd love to see Read playing like that again.

That's true.
The aussie incident seemed pretty blatant too.

They really needed to give Scotland all the help they needed. In the end it was 3 points between playing QF and watching it on TV. I dare say the ploy worked.

Another great game, Argentina v Namibia. I thought the Argies really took it to them, poor Namibia just didn't really have the strength to carry on for some parts of the game, though an excellent excellent ending.

Glad to see NMS in ahead of Naholo - didn't really expect differently though you just never know! Surprised to see TKB ahead of TJP, though upon reflection his form has been flat since the S15... also interesting to see Moody straight onto the bench.

Looking forward to a great game - and all the bacon!

Didn't see they had announced the team. Considering TKB's form it is a complete mystery how is he @ RWC at all, and nothing I've seen since has indicated to me he should be played in a knockout match, but maybe he's been "holding back".

If (and i don't think that's the sole reason) everything bring equal they have 2 backup goal kickers. In the past dagg would be goal kicker no 3 but tkb now holds that role.

I hear (never watched their pool) the French kicker regularly nails 50m kicks. That means to me he will try 60m penalties if it's in the middle of the park

The fact they picked him when he hadn't played any rugby should tell you something about how the best rugby brains in NZ see him.

His form is on the improve as he gets more game time. He has certainly lacked game time, but if they can't count on him to play in this game then he wouldn't have been picked for the squad.

For the game vs Georgia we picked both TKB and TJP on the bench, but TJP was picked because he was the backup goalkicker (after DC, in the absence of Slade and Barrett). I don't think TKB kicks goals? In that game, it was TKB that came on for the final 10 minutes at halfback, so we shouldn't be surprised he had the inside running at halfback now.
