blair003: Really pleased and impressed with how Moody played.

I think we saw why TKB is second choice halfback - he came on and the game still flowed with crisp, accurate passing.

Read on the high ball is still a bit of a worry though.

Now it's a matter of how you get back to earth and get up again for a massive game vs South Africa..

Agreed on Moody, he was superb, though you could say that about almost every player. TKB had a surprisingly good game, I'll admit.

joker97: South Africa it is!

1. 2 words: Wayne Barnes - I don't get his interpretations of anything. It's like he's from a different planet
2. Wales - powerful but toothless
3. South Africa - thought didn't play well, but their 10 can kick and that was the difference keeping them alive until they pulled ahead with 4 mins left

Thats what bothers me this morning, and what bothered me a bit under 4 years ago in the final. A low scoring game where the kicker is all that matters. Kicking goals is part of the game, but when milking technical penalties, kicking away possession is key, that makes for a game where we can't express ourselves. SH wants more points awarded for tries, I agree with that. Or make penalties 2 points. make repeated penalties 4 points. Tries 6 conversion 3. make tries the MAIN thing

I digress, Its 7-35, hurry up 8am

I understand that this year there will be a couple of leagues (in Wales and sa iirc) where they will be trying out some new rules very similar to your suggestions.
I.e. Make penalties 2 points, (but also increase the likelihood of awarding penalty tries to stop cynical fouls) and things like that

A try will be worth six points
A conversion will be worth two points
A penalty will be worth two points
A drop goal will be worth two points

A further tweak means that if a try probably would have been scored but for an opponent’s act of foul play, the subsequent penalty try will be worth eight points, with no conversion attempt necessary.

Ok i am more than happy to apologise to DC. He was able to run (phew). Still not sure about his kicking game, but at least he doesn't just play hot potato passes. The next game should test his territorial kicking. SA will be harder, but if they play like today it's AB to win, but alas every match is different.

WAtch out for offloads being intercepted by Habana and JPP.

Good plan, seen new rules in F1 cause loopholes to be used, but penalty high value tries, thats a great deterent

I'd like them to make scrum penalties more straight forward. Ie clearly favours the team winning the scrum.

And to make the tackle / ruck / maul even more simplified sop that Wayne Barnes can understand. I mean so that the team "winning the completion" (W Barnes 2015) gets the penalty not the losing side surprised at getting the penalty their way

ludez: Awesome game. I can see tkb did what the coaches wanted but didnt add anything that smith doesnt which is what worries me.In those tight games we need that xfactor

That's a pretty simplistic view.

1. Aaron Smith is the best halfback in the world, if you can have a replacement just as good then you have the two best halfbacks in the world
2. In addition to his excellent fundamentals, the lines TKB ran in support got him a couple of tries.
3. There are subtle differences to TKB's game

In summary he was very quick to rucks, delivered clean crisp ball out on front of the receiver, made no mistakes, scored a couple of tries... what more were you expecting? To try and be 'different' would have been to ignore what was working for the team.

His kicking accuracy was pleasantly, not 100%.

Trying hard to remember a better exhibition of the game of rugby. And we've all seen some pretty awful ones!

Someone rang Veitch on talkback saying he was impressed with the way the ref let the game run and didn't treat the players as children. Especially the bit where he just stood back and let the players sort out the push and shove episode! On reflection, had to agree with the caller.

Now we just have to see if they can play like this in the next two games. Really hope so, especially as it shows the game in a good light.

Its hard not to look good when youve got the team under the pump and are 30 odd points ahead, tkb for me isnt the 2nd best we have but sure he came on and did his core roles well and thats what the coaches want.He didnt add much other then supporting and decent passes.

So what did tkb have to add that he didn't do? I'm not a huge fan of him, but really can't see anything that he did or could of done in this game to warrant any worries at all.

Some obversers seem to have it in for some particular AB selections, whether it's parochial pride or whatever. I personally think we are in very good hands. We have the selected 31 and unless there are further injuries, that's who the selectors have settled on and won't change now, support that.

I think he wanted the replacement halfback to run back, challenge Barrett for the high ball, catch it, kick it high, Chase and collect it, beat 2 tackles, then pass it.

Agreed, not his biggest fan, didn't agree with his selection, but didn't see much to complain about in this game.

Wales and SA both had something missing that we had in spades.. Passes out on front, that we were running on to.

I seriously doubt any team could have beaten us today. Next week, let's see.

For Christmas I want Scotland to beat Australia.

im exagerating a bit with my worry i guess i would just like to see a bit of variation in the halfbacks.Team today was outstanding was a fabulous game
