Obviously it was a tremendous game. If you go looking you can find faults with every player, for example McCaw gave up a couple of penalties at the ruck and was the player who missed the scrum tackle which lead to the French try. Similarly while Read did drop the ball a couple of time (the one from the kickoff was awful) he also won a ton of ball both from the kickoff and in the line out. Saveas first try was from a ball thrown to the back and win against the throw by Read. He hasn't had a great World Cup but he's gotten better and better the last couple of games. Similarly Savea has been terrible but they've built him up and he was nothing short of awesome today.

Fundamentally I thought we were as good as we were because 1-5 just smashed the French tight forwards. That meant the loose forwards were able to get wider and dominate the breakdown. With that sort of platform the backs did what they should. The back 3 really fired today with the space and I thought Ben Smith showed the reason they wanted him at the back, his work rate is so high that he creates a ton of space.

I really hope they stay with their feet on the ground and haven't gone too early, but South Africa should be tremendous next week.
