joker97: If you have a TMO why not use him. Even if you don't he will use himself and stop the referee whenever he feels like it.
Ok pool games one referral. Knockouts two?
Mike
MikeAqua: Despite Scotland being my second favourite team due to family connections, I'm finding it hard to feel Scotland were on balance unlucky.
They got an intercept try, a change down try and an inexplicable try where the wallabies left the ruck and inside channels undefended. They had more than their share of good luck and it's more an upset denied than unfair treatment.
I'm really looking forward to Aussie vs Argentina. It could be a close and interesting game with tow very different sides
Whatever happens, I'm hoping they absolutely hammer the stuffing out of each other

joker97:networkn:joker97: Garces and Barnes for the semis.
That means Nigel Owen for the final.
Joubert misses out.
No idea about Garces but he also interprets things different to Joubert (favours favourites) and Owen (very pragmatic).
I will turn my attention to infringement calls this weekend. Should be fun.
To be fair, it seems like you pretty much always do, based on the number of Referee comments you make :)
I think Garces is a pretty calm guy. I think Owens does tend to be a little bit of the grumpy gus. He has no tolerance for questions, and I have seen him seem overly harsh on one team if he feels they are unhappy with his decisions. That may be a little unfair for me to say, but it's an impression.
Yeah i guess referees are humans who have average, good, and bad days. Sometimes out doesn't affect the outcome, once on a while it shakes the planet. Maybe each team should get 2 TMO referrals. One in each half.

I actually agree regarding Scotland being fairly "lucky" to be "competitive" in that match. I felt they were actually less deserving then Japan, to come out of pool play. I do think they were fairly hard done, regardless of that to the outcome, which is then counter balanced by poor decision making to throw to the back of the lineout, which is why they are a second tier team and generally don't beat tier one teams overall.

I have no issues with his call. he got it wrong in the heat of the moment. Every call can't be right. We could enforce TMO on every whistle blow, then we complain about the TMO being too much in the game, which is exactly what happened. Joubert call could have been in any part of the game, but it was at THE part of the game. Refs call or TMO to decide every call, which is it? This happens in all sports.
tdgeek: Same, neither do I. Unless there is a decree to enforce that every decision is always right, refs will make calls and get them right most of the time, but not all the time
