One wag suggested that you simply can't play an old bloke from the Saudi Pro League in a knockout game of the World Cup. I actually guffawed at that.

Now that's funny!!  Karma's a female canine, despite his philanthropic works, can't help but feel there's been a bit of ledger adjustment this morning after all of his recent antics.

So we now have the main actors for the final couple of scenes.

Despite an heroic run, TBD got knocked out at the last hurdle before heading into the Quarterfinals.

Some pretty juicy encounters coming up this weekend:

England v France and Netherlands v Argentina will be my picks to get excited about, but the Morocco v Portugal game could also be a ripsnorter.

I have a feeling that Brazil will just be too strong and possess the ball too much for Croatia.

The idea of a Tournament-Edition Harry Maguire vs Killian Mbappe and much-rejuvenated Olivier Giroud doesn't give me much hope for an England win, but here's hoping that the French choose this stage to implode (as they seem to do on the odd occasion - I wonder, is it the cheese, the wine or the strong cigarettes that makes them all go mad at tournaments?).

Wow that was an entertaining game (England v France).

Havent been that engaged in the tournament but that was befitting of a final.

I hope the press don’t crucify Kane for that miss.

Maybe next time will be the time.

Still some good action to come.

It's still coming home.

Just a matter of which home - my money is on Argentina and a fitting International send-off to the greatest player to have ever graced the field.

Which means, it'll probably be a Morocco vs Croatia final and Niue will win.

It's in the script for Messi to finally win it, but hoping for a Croatia-Morocco final.

That money is looking well placed.

Croatia were totally outclassed this morning

Surely it'll be an Argentina - France final. Can Morocco ride their luck even further? I wouldn't bet on it but we'll know tomorrow.

Going to be an interesting final, most money has to be on Messi and Argentina, but France keep on winning ugly or doing what needs to be done.

I hope Messi gets his fairytale finish but I wouldn't be at all surprised if France went back to back.

It's 'allez les Bleus" from me.

Must confess to some sour grapes in there because of my Dutch bias.

I do regard Messi as one of the best players ever but, whilst not reaching Ronaldo levels, his petulance in the last few days annoyed me and he's a convicted fraudster.  Mbappe is just showing raw talent and getting on with it.  (He is but young though, let's hope it doesn't go to his head.)

Edit:  TAB has France slight favourite to lift the cup at $1.87 vs $1.92 for Argentina.  BET365 has them 50/50.

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.
