heh right after i posted I bought AA because it states immediate cover only if bought on same day as buying your trip (which i presume means flight tickets)

- i hope the amounts they give on the website is per person and not the entire group of 5 ....

Batman:

any more comments on overseas travel insurance?

thanks

Went through the exercise recently. My outcome was that Tower (Allianz) had the best bang for buck with reasonable COVID cover (all you will ever get is medical, not travel costs covered) at a good price.

Divhon88:

My family have a 5 weeks trip overseas on January we went AA because as mentioned here they have good reputation on their car & content insurance plus they have their price on my budget. They provide 2x car insurance and content with me currently. If my house will ever be built crossed finger I may also go with them.

My health insurance is with NIB we had a health claim with them before they were quick & easy opposite of the reviews available. I didn't go with them as they are about double the price of AA.

Just before before Covid we went with Chubb for travel insurance but I can't find them anymore to inquire about price. They had a good price then.

We never had a claim from Travel Insurance yet.

One thing to watch out for here, is that there travel insurance is not underwritten by them - unlike their car insurance (which is what makes them so good for car).

"AA Travel Insurance policies are brought to you by the New Zealand Automobile Association Incorporated (AA), are issued and managed by AWP Services New Zealand Limited trading as Allianz Partners (FSP758611) and underwritten by The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd ABN 78 090 584 473 (Incorporated in Australia)"

Someone mentioned a delay in dealing with them, i imagine it's partly due to this, but getting the outcome you need seems likely from the feedback I saw online.

I just ended up going with my credit card travel insurance and YOLO'd it.
