MikeB4: Watching the news about the separation of children is heart breaking.

I agree. It goes way beyond idiocy. He needs to be in court, for crimes of humanity and trade issues

... NOT REFLECTIVE OF THIS NATION

Yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and stop you right there, because it's obviously reflective of enough of you that you didn't stop it from happening.

Trump is dull, so proven non reflective. Disagree with me and I'll fire you  :-)

MikeB4: It's also reflective of the nation's that don't stand up and say stop Mr Trump or you can keep your exports.

I feel that will come, and soon. His idiot ness is one thing, but the kids issue and trade, it has to be getting close to an international confrontation. Trudeau has got his feet wet on that, its a start. Once its starts, you wont be able to hear what Trump says as the media will be all over the other 36 nations chiming in. Thats my hope.

As I typed this, Trump was on CNN ranting about the Democrats bedbug at fault re the kids. Pence was behind him. Inside I bet he was churning. Thinking "if I keep out of everything, I might be POTUS" I see that the kids issue is being legally defined as potential torture.

Ok - what should they do?

The first "first world" representative democratic nation's politician to stand up and openly condemn Trump and impose sanctions will be effectively writing their resignation letters and handing power to the populist movements in their own nations.  Trump will crucify them - look what he's trying to do with Merkel.

Too often the world ignores for fiscal gain and these crimes are allowed to happen, it is bloody disgusting. But I guess a child's life does have a dollar value, probably less than a shiny new TV.

This sums up the US. They have no concerns for children or the rest of the world except for their own political gain.

Trump's doubling down on this, using it in an attempt to deflect blame to the Democrats, and defending his position with fascist rhetoric.

He's also doubling down with his lies about German crime rates - that he's using in an attempt to link immigrants/refugees there and the US situation.

The US has now pulled out of the UN HRC.   While it's correct that the HRC has serious failings, throwing your toys out of the cot and abandoning of responsibilities and duties as a fair and major player just because you don't get your way - it doesn't bode well.

The US media basically never covers the US involvement in / geopolitics behind current immigration / refugee crisis around the world.

When Did Caging Kids Become the Art of the Deal?

Watching President Trump blame Democrats for his administration’s inhumane practice of snatching immigrant children from their parents at the border evokes nothing so much as an abusive husband blaming his wife for the beatings he delivers:

Why do you make me do this? I hate doing this! If you’d only be reasonable and listen to me, things wouldn’t have to be this way.

I truly do not know what to do with the anger I am feeling towards those a$$holes. I hope something happens soon to stop this. Trump and the spineless sycophants propping up his ego are the absolute dregs of humanity. I hope Americans of all political persuasions recognise what is being done to them and rise up before it is truly too late. This is an out of control neo-fascist avalanche. Comparisons to Hitler are no longer excessive. History actually is repeating itself.

A recent poll result from Australia (article).

But this is the one which matters to Trump & Co - and suggests a serious problem:

Trump approval in the US - highest in over a year:

Now it's possible that this blip was euphoria (misplaced IMO) about Trump's NK summit and doesn't show any impact yet from the children in cages debacle - but it does include the time period where he attacked Trudeau, Merkel etc - and he shows that he's doubling down on those attacks against "the West".

OTOH don't underestimate Nationalist sentiment in the US - it's been manipulated to lead them into war before, and it could happen again.

The chances of that happening in the near future are close to zero.  His chance of being reelected in 2020 are increasing rapidly.
The more resistance to Trump from outside the US, the stronger his support will become inside the US.

He's also going to "win" the trade war with China.  China could easily retaliate and decimate the US economy - to paraphrase Bill Clinton's campaign strategy "it's the economy stupid" would normally ring true.  It won't now - they'll (China) be seen (from inside the US) as an aggressor.  The markets have taken a bit of a tumble, but not even close to what would be the case if the talked about threat of all-out trade war was being taken seriously.  China will relent and negotiate.  Trump wins.

It's going to take decades to undo the global harm from Trumpism. We better get used to that idea.  Rough times are ahead.

What makes you think it can be undone? As the takeover progresses, critical voices will be shut down one by one. Pretty soon it will become impossible to mount any effective opposition at all. What would have happened to Germany (and Europe) if Hitler had decided to stop after Czechoslovakia, or he had not turned on the Soviet Union? Could internal forces alone ever have removed him? Trump needs to be stopped now. He really does. Hitler had support in Germany but he never won a majority. He gained absolute power by other means. Those who opposed him did not resist, or did not resist enough. If it happens again the world may not recover at all.
