Another excellent source of analysis, as always, is Seth Abramson. He's doing a live read of it now and tweeting his findings.

Warning, it is very long. But also very, very damning. And painting a far different picture than what Trump and the DOJ are trying to portray. And this is all from the heavily redacted version of the report.

House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff: Criminal Or Not, Trump's Actions Are Dishonest, Unethical, Immoral, Unpatriotic.

As expected, he's also demanding the full report, unredacted, and wants Mueller to testify.

The Guardian - 'Whimsical, uninformed': French ambassador's parting verdict on Trump

19 April 2019

The outgoing French ambassador to the US has compared the Trump administration to the court of King Louis XIV, filled with courtiers trying to interpret the caprices of a “whimsical, unpredictable, uninformed” leader.

Gérard Araud, who has been France’s ambassador to Washington since 2014, said Donald Trump’s unpredictability and his single-minded transactional interpretation of US interests was leaving the administration isolated on the world stage.

“When they say ‘America first’, it’s America alone,” Araud said in an interview with the Guardian.

“Basically, this president and this administration don’t have allies, don’t have friends." ...

Sen Elizabeth Warren: "The severity of this misconduct demands that elected officials in both parties set aside political considerations and do their constitutional duty. That means the House should initiate impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States."

PBS discussion with Russian billionaire Deripaska.

A name that arose during special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election was that of Oleg Deripaska, a wealthy self-made businessman, and according to the U.S. government, an ally of Russian president Vladimir Putin. In a rare interview with Deripaska, special correspondent Ryan Chilcote asks the aluminum magnate about the Mueller report.
...
Deripaska's interactions with the eventual chairman of President Trump's 2016 campaign, Paul Manafort, go back years. More recently, Deripaska and Manafort came into a financial dispute, with Deripaska charging that Manafort owes him millions of dollars.

In an e-mail revealed by The Washington Post by an associate by the name of Konstantin Kilimnik, who the U.S. believes has ties to Russian intelligence, Manafort even considered on his own whether to give Deripaska private briefings about the campaign.
...
Reporter:On July 7, two weeks before President Trump accepted the Republican nomination, [chairman of President Trump's 2016 campaign] Manafort sent an e-mail to Konstantin Kilimnik, where he said: "If he needs private briefings, we can accommodate."

The "he" in that e-mail is you. And the private briefings were to be about President Trump's then campaign.

Oleg Deripaska:Do you believe in this now? First…

Reporter:I'm confused. What wouldn't I believe about the e-mail?

Oleg Deripaska:No, but after what has happened with all this Mueller investigation, it's quite a — quite an old story.

I never met Kilimnik. Again, Manafort and others from this team, almost 10 years, work on Ukraine. I tried to sue him, and my lawyers were looking for him almost two years, couldn't find him, you know, for those two project which he failed to perform.

And, actually, my lawyers suspect it's more than just failure to perform. And do you believe that, after all of this, he will offer me some kind of gesture of something?

Reporter:Did you ever get any briefings from anyone associated with Paul Manafort about the U.S. campaign?

(LAUGHTER)

Oleg Deripaska:No. Why — why…

Reporter:Did you ever get the offer of any briefings?

Oleg Deripaska:No.

Reporter:OK.

Oleg Deripaska:What would be — what would be my benefit to see anything which I could go through (INAUDIBLE) determined now on Google?

Reporter:Did you ever get any polling data?

Oleg Deripaska:No.

Reporter:Paul Manafort is sitting in jail now. How do you feel about that? Do you feel this is poetic justice for you?

Oleg Deripaska:It's not my game. I feel maybe sorry. He's old guy.

'It's all a lie,' Russian billionaire Deripaska says of U.S. accusations in Mueller probe

The response to the redacted Mueller report has predictably been divided along tribal lines ...

The NY Times - " ... for many Americans the actual details of the report were almost secondary to the intractable problems the investigation had come to symbolize: in the eyes of Democrats, the administration’s essential corruption and the failure of Congress, prosecutors - anyone - to hold the president accountable; for Republicans, false smears from the Democrats and nearly two years wasted on a special counsel investigation."

Reflexive Control

The NY Times - How Barr and Trump Use a Russian Disinformation Tactic

April 19, 2019

... By seamlessly conflating the terms “collusion” and “conspiracy,” and absolving President Trump of both, Mr. Barr revealed that the Russian information warfare technique of “reflexive control” has officially entered American public discourse - and threatens, with his recent allegations of campaign “spying,” to stay there for a while.

Reflexive control is a “uniquely Russian” technique of psychological manipulation through disinformation.

The idea is to feed your adversary a set of assumptions that will produce a predictable response: That response, in turn, furthers a goal that advances your interests.

By luring your opponent into agreeing with your initial assumptions, you can control the narrative, and ultimate outcome, in your favor.

Best of all, the outcome is one in which your adversary has voluntarily acceded.

This is exactly what has happened with much of the American public in the course of Mueller’s investigation. ...

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Accuses Media of Anti-Liar Bias

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Reacting to the journalist April Ryan’s call for her to be fired, the White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said, on Friday, that she has been the victim of the media’s “widespread anti-liar bias.”

“From their obsession with fact-checking to their relentless attacks on falsehoods, the media have made no secret of their bias,” Sanders said. “It’s open season on liars in America.”

“This is media hypocrisy at its very worst,” she added. “The same journalists who advocate freedom of speech want to take that freedom away from anyone whose speech consists entirely of lies.”

“This is nothing more or less than a direct attack on the lying life style,” she said. “You take away my right to lie and you take away my ability to earn a living.”

Kellyanne Conway, the White House senior counsellor, spoke out in support of Sanders, telling reporters, “An attack on one liar is an attack on all liars.”

“Our country has seen some dark days, from the Bowling Green Massacre to the bugging of the White House microwave,” she said. “But this might be the darkest.”

Any fool can make money, but it takes a special person to earn the respect of respectable people.
