I feel even more sorry for the 25 million North Koreans carrying that fat lump.  The horse looks well fed.

I feel sorry for the horse if it bucks.

A defector reported Kim Jong-un forced his uncle to watch his colleagues' execution by anti-aircraft guns, then poured their blood over him until he fainted.

And this story is even worse

So Pelosi's response - she's used the picture Trump tried (but failed) to shame her with as the header image on her twitter page https://twitter.com/speakerpelosi?lang=en

And it works.  Bravo - fight fire with fire.  She's really looking like she owns him, inside his dirty little head 24/7.

Dodgy Bookkeeping Is a Trump Family Tradition

The latest revelations of questionable accounting echo the Trump Organization’s past practices.

Bloomberg Opinion By Timothy L. O'Brien

Thanks to some inspired digging from ProPublica reporter Heather Vogell, it appears the Trump Organization has been massaging reported profits, expenses and occupancy rates at a pair of its Manhattan properties to make them look robust to lenders, but much less so to authorities who assess property taxes.

If this means that President Donald Trump’s company keeps two sets of books, it may be an attempt to secure lower interest rates on borrowings while keeping tax expenses down. A dozen real estate experts Vogell contacted couldn’t explain “multiple inconsistencies” in Trump Organization documents she showed them. The variations are “versions of fraud,” Nancy Wallace, a finance and real estate professor at the Haas School of Business at the University of California-Berkeley, told Vogell. “This kind of stuff is not OK.”

No, it’s not. It may amount to the same kind of financial fraud that sent two former Trump advisers, Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen, to prison. Cohen, in congressional testimony in February, accused Trump of falsifying records he provided to banks in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Sacha Baron Cohen says Twitter made Trump president

Variety

Sasha Baron Cohen wants to test the waters of what he can do and push it to the edge just before violence. “I’m trying to push it to the limit to see what people’s real thoughts and real beliefs and what they would say,” said Cohen. He discusses the information age with Don Cheedle and says Trump would never be President if it were not for Twitter.

Trump is now saying that the Turkish invasion is not America's problem. Even his supporters are starting to despair. Moody's may be right, though. Presumably they know what they are talking about. The best hope may lie with Trump himself. If he keeps shooting himself in the foot and scoring own goals, something may finally emerge that ensures his impeachment and prosecution for criminal acts. If America really does elect that immoral a$$hole again, they deserve what they get.

Elija Cummings has died. It is like some malevolent force is dragging America into a black hole. It is hard not to despair.

From the New York Times

Catch up on impeachment: What you need to know about the inquiry.

President Trump repeatedly pressured President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine to investigate people and issues of political concern to Mr. Trump, including former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. Here’s a timeline of events since January.

A C.I.A. officer who was once detailed to the White House filed a whistle-blower complaint on Mr. Trump’s interactions with Mr. Zelensky. Read the complaint.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced in September that the House would open a formal impeachment proceeding in response to the whistle-blower’s complaint. Here’s how the impeachment process works.

House committees have issued subpoenas to the White House, the Defense Department, the budget office and other agencies for documents related to the impeachment investigation. Here’s the evidence that has been collected so far.

Trump profiting from presidency by selling White House-branded merchandise via his ‘Trump Store’

Trump Store is selling merchandise featuring likeness of White House ( Trump Store )

Donald Trump’s website has launched a range of White House-branded merchandise, apparently for personal profit, in a potential violation of government ethics rules.

The items, which include a $45 (£34) long-sleeve t-shirt and a $16 (£12) giant mug, feature the outline of a building which mirrors the iconic Washington residence of sitting US presidents.

The new line - "Cherry Blossom Collection" - which debuted on Wednesday and was first reported by website 1100 Pennsylvania, features around 11 new items, of which four appear to depict the White House and other DC landmarks.

The Trump Store, the official retail website of the Trump Organization, says the collection is “inspired" by the Trump International Hotel in the US capital.

“Featuring unique imagery of the Trump Hotel Washington, D.C. surrounded by Cherry Blossoms,” the blurb for a $30 (£23) t-shirt reads. It fails to mention the White House imagery, which is placed in the foreground

THE LIFE-CHANGING MAGIC OF IMPEACHING TRUMP  By Andy Borowitz 11:20 A.M.

Over the past five years, millions of Americans have ascended to a higher plane of fulfillment by tidying up their homes. By talking to our possessions, one by one, and asking if they spark joy, we have achieved a kind of contentment we never dreamed possible.

Now it’s time to tidy up a residence that belongs to all of us: the White House.

At first, this seems like a daunting task. After all, the White House has a hundred and thirty-two rooms. There is much culling to be done.

But there’s no reason to despair. Many useless things have already been hauled away. Reince Priebus, John Kelly, Steve Bannon, Kirstjen Nielsen, Michael Flynn, John Bolton, Sean Spicer, Hope Hicks, Sarah Huckabee Sanders—none of them sparked joy. And now they are all gone. And Anthony Scaramucci, who sparked joy as briefly as those paisley pants you immediately regretted buying at H&M—he is gone, too.

Clearly, though, more culling remains to be done.

We must look at Donald Trump and ask ourselves, “Does this spark joy?” And, although the answer to that question might be somewhat different in Russia, North Korea, and Turkey, the answer here is a resounding no.

Remember how, once you tidied up your dwelling, you discovered hidden treasures buried under all of those needless possessions? Well, once that garish orange thing that sparks no joy has been removed from the Oval Office, you’ll be amazed what you’ll find underneath. Things you forgot you even had, like democracy.

In the video above, from last weekend’s New Yorker Festival, I speak about the happiness we can attain by decluttering the country of Trump. Much like Marie Kondo, the authors of the United States Constitution gave us a unique tool for improving our surroundings: impeachment. And the Twenty-fifth Amendment is pretty good, too.

The New York Times - Mulvaney: Trump Held Back Ukraine Aid Pending Investigation of Democrats

Oct. 17, 2019

WASHINGTON — Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff, said Thursday that the Trump administration withheld nearly $400 million in military aid to pressure Ukraine to investigate what the president has long insisted was Kiev’s assistance to Democrats during the 2016 election.

The declaration by Mr. Mulvaney undercut Mr. Trump’s repeated denials of a quid pro quo that linked security aid for Ukraine’s battle against Russian-backed separatists to Mr. Trump’s unsubstantiated theory that a server with missing Democratic emails was being held by a company based in Ukraine. ..

The New York Times - Trump Will Host Next G7 Summit at His Doral Resort

Oct. 17, 2019

WASHINGTON - President Trump has decided to host the Group of 7 meeting next June at the Trump National Doral near Miami ... a decision that prompted immediate questions about whether it was a conflict of interest for him to choose one of his own properties for a diplomatic event.  ...

“The administration’s announcement that President Trump’s Doral Miami resort will be the site of the next G7 summit is among the most brazen examples yet of the president’s corruption,” said Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, which is charged with drawing up articles of impeachment against the president. ...

Legal experts said hosting the Group of 7 summit at the Doral might violate the Constitution in two ways:

First, the Constitution prohibits the president from accepting a gift or payment from a foreign government source, technically called a foreign emolument.

Second, the president is prohibited from taking any kind of payment from the federal government that is beyond his salary. ...

EDIT

The Washington Post

Oct. 18, 2019

President Trump has awarded the 2020 Group of Seven summit of world leaders to his private company, scheduling the summit for June at his Trump National Doral Miami golf resort in Florida, the White House announced Thursday.

That decision is without precedent in modern American history: The president used his public office to direct a huge contract to himself.

Trump’s Doral resort - set among office parks near Miami International Airport - has been in sharp decline in recent years, according to the Trump Organization’s own records. Its net operating income fell 69 percent from 2015 to 2017; a Trump Organization representative testified last year that the reason was Trump’s damaged brand.

Now, the G-7 summit will draw hundreds of diplomats, journalists and security personnel to the resort during one of its slowest months of the year, when Miami is hot and the hotel is often less than 40 percent full. It will also provide a worldwide spotlight for the club. ...
