Haha, didn't take long for JA to tell everyone to prepare for the economy to take a hit! Yay! Let the good times roll.

It was like Winstons speech....the world economy is showing signs of free fall...so don t blame us when NZ's falls...I was like WTF is he talking about?

Do you mean this? Bill actually stated that the books fall away over the next three years

Dark clouds on the horizon

Mr Peters in his speech on Thursday night warned of dark days ahead on the economic front.

"Don't come blaming me when things are bad - I'm just giving you a warning now," he said.

It's a warning backed up by BERL economist Ganesh Nana, who told The AM Show there is likely to be an economic downturn regardless of who is in Government.

Ms Ardern said it was "only fair of Mr Peters to reflect on what might be on the horizon for this Labour-led Government, to make sure that people have some anticipation that we will potentially have a rocky road in front of us".

"If you have an economic outlook that's affected by international markers then of course, it's your job to manage them, but we can't always control what we face. Of course, no one blamed the National Government for the GFC, for instance."

What a BERL Economist said, and to be fair, he is right. Bill even stated in the campaign that the books fall away a bit over the next three years, surplus wise

So for Winston and Jacinda to announce doom and gloom before the government is formed is prudent politics to give the markets positive leadership. haha. Get your new iphones now!! Only real winners will be students.

? They didnt. an Economist did. Bill hinted of it in the campaign. If an economist stated a downturn (doom and gloom is over dramatic) then they should say nothing?

Say Bill had retained the PM, and this economist stated what he stated, Bill would say the same thing, as its accurate. if there is a downturn, its not our fault, and he would be correct.

It's a bit rich criticising Peters' comments when National's biggest cheerleader is getting headlines like this:

Get a grip.

The only change I would like to see to MMP is that all Party's be required to declare their preferred coalition partners and those they will not consider as partners before voting starts, that way the voting public will know more of what they are voting for. This secret squirrel stuff inside the cone of silence has to stop and is not democratic.

But we already knew the preferred options on Election day. Green and Labour would work together. David Seymour would do whatever National told him. Winston would sit in the middle and get the best deal from either side. This negotiation can only effectively happen once you know what each side is working with. Each party laid out their policies and bottom lines before the election.

Perhaps try listening to the PM and soon to be leader of the opposition (until I suppose he's rolled or resigns).

Disappointed - sure.  Accusing the process of being a "debacle" - nope.

He gave one of the best speeches I have seen from any leader in a long long time. That doesn't mean he didn't think the situation wasn't a debacle.

I'd have thought making a comparison like that would be beneath you.

From the time the writs were filled which gave the final result it took circa 10 days to form the Government for the next 1000 days that is not a debacle

Hosking is incredibly biased and a narcissist, he has used his position to influence without remorse the election. He is not accurate and he deliberately skews stories and reporting to match his bias. He is also insults those who disagree with him.

So you can read his mind ?

I don't think so.  National have been the winner in past coalition negotiations, and dependant on coalition and supply agreements.

Criticising the process could be sabotaging their own future.
