While looking up a term for people taking offence on other's behalf I found this Irish Times editorial from a few years ago.

If I recall correctly, Ardern said she wasn't bothered, possibly because she is a capable resilient politician who can defend herself. In fact she would probably be offended that men feel it necessary to leap to her defence.

Just to be clear, there is a world of difference between taking offense on someone else's behalf, and being offended by behaviour that is offensive regardless of who it is directed at. Male violence against women is a real issue. It is widespread. It is reprehensible. The language employed by Jones is inexcusable. It has nothing to do with Jacinda Ardern. It has to do with right-thinking people rejecting the kind of twisted values Jones was broadcasting.

I don't think there is ever a bad time to talk about how absurd war is, how old men make decisions and young people die. - George Clooney
