Go and read about the Francis report without wearing an eye patch. You might learn something.

The irony of suggesting someone read a report on negative/toxic workplaces you obviously endorse, whilst being condescending and insulting, was obviously lost on you.

I know of the report, not sure why you think who I support has any bearing on my opinion of the report. There is a similar investigation and report being done in AU and Canada and other countries too.

My issue is that Trevor Mallard is the last person I'd have leading the charge on that change given his history.

One thing's for sure: Winston doesn't like National, and won't be going with them again.

If Shane Jone's bumbling rambling interview on RadioNZ this morning was any indication, I don't think it matters much since I can't see them getting many votes with that level of incoherence.

From media reports of the NZF AGM over the weekend, it is clear that Winston is not retiring and will again resume the same old style of politics routinely rejected by the party-voters in the 9 MMP elections so far.  In each such election, as much as 97% and never less that 87% (IIRC) of party voters have not voted NZF.  In the 2 governments that NZF have been in, they have got there because the tiny levels of voter support for NZF were crucial in forming a government of 61MPs or more.  NZF will continue to be the interesting side-show clown of Parliament should they ever find their way back with either Winston or Shane at the helm.  It seems clear, for example, that the party will not change its name to Aotearoa/New Zealand First.

Perhaps the results of the SFO charges might yet play a part in the party's future.

To be fair to Winston, I agreed with his handbraking of some of Labour/Greens more hare-brained policies and I am disconcerted about the direction things are heading ($600M pedestrian and cycle bridge among many others) without him there to stop it. The problem was the price that was paid for his intervention which made it significantly less valuable. I am sure, that if this SFO investigation doesn't scuttle the party entirely, he will come up with some massive promises, he has no chances of delivering, that will get a small number of people to vote his way. I'd be surprised if it makes 5% but people have been writing him off for years.

This term Labour has shown they are more than capable of putting a handbrake on any really progressive policies themselves without needing NZ First to do that for them.

Well, I've yet to speak to a person who thinks the new bridge in it's current form is a good idea :)

I am pretty sure Winston would have dealt to that.

I wonder how many of the people who protested riding their bikes over the bridge last weekend will actually use the new bridge every. single. day.

The circus continues with Todd Mueller announcing he won't stand for relection after (correctly IMO) criticisng Harete Hipango returning to parliament.

National looked a bit a lot racist last week with that bunch of National MPs saying bad things about Hipango for no apparent reason. It's still not clear to me if that was about the expenses thing or something else going on.

I don't see the criticism of her being race based. I see it being based on her poor performance.

The articles I saw about that did not mention anything about performance:

https://www.newsroom.co.nz/national-party-all-out-of-love-for-returning-mp

The article mentions only Hipango's strong opposition to abortion law reform and opposition to euthanasia legislation. That is not unusual among National MPs.

The article describes her as a liability and not a team player. It's a fair criticism after the nonsense with her making up quotes on social media and the spending stuff that has come out today.
