This reads like whataboutism to me, but I could be wrong.

https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2021/09/judith-collins-denies-criticism-of-siouxsie-wiles-was-hypocritical-despite-her-own-mask-breach-in-queenstown.html

This is typical of where Collins goes wrong. To criticise a public figure for not following a rule (incorrectly as it eventuated) and then be filmed breaking the same rule within days is such a tasty morsel for the media.

Of course they're going to splash it all over the news.

She comes across like a petty micro manager.

Dunno but I wouldn't be surprised if MPs have essential worker status.

She was there with Shane Reti - both being 'big fat hypocrites'.

Collins said she would be keen to travel to Wellington from Auckland to participate as an essential worker.

QT = level 2 at the time Collins was there.  The Wiles incident was under level 4.   MPs qualify as essential workers.

It's all about coronavirus.

Right... so a year after the first lockdown when there might be some arguments to make about facilities, lack of saliva testing & slow vaccination, the opposition should still poll lower... #judithlogic

Just like 2020. The Trumpesque border conspiracy and fabulous church photoshoot had nothing to do with ending up on 25%. (Look at me praying. Aren't I virtuous? I live in the 1950's when this still worked).

Sir John Key - five point plan

NZHerald: Some people might like to continue the North Korean option. I am not one of them. Public health experts and politicians have done a good job of making the public fearful, and therefore willing to accept multiple restrictions on their civil liberties which are disproportionate to the risk of them contracting Covid.

Statement sounding a bit like a well known North American political party.

The meat in the five points themselves is relatively sensible and approximately in line with government policy. That is, apart from the one about vaccinating potentially drunk and drug affected people outside nightclubs, or is it just parking a vaxx bus there and that's all can't be sure.

Other than that, praising face recognition, gps monitoring, and suggesting vaccine passports to enter nightspots right after trying to make a point about civil liberties is kind of odd.

I read it as he was following the same playbook as Todd Muller and Judith Collins, ie, "just open the borders".

See, I wonder how Key would have handled it if he were still in charge?

This is a dead heron argument because it was either going to be Ardern or English in 2020, Key wouldn't have come into it. I remain unconvinced English would have done much differently to be honest.

Dead heron or herring? :D

Seriously though, I meant what if he hadn't resigned in 2016? Mind you, he would have been PM for a long, long time if he was still running the show last year.

Neither of them ever said "just open the borders."

I'm sure one of them said that last year, or words close to it although it may have been Simon Bridges. I'm not really fussed to be honest.

What resonates with me is two weeks into the March 26 lockdown, "Its too much, its too long" from JC. Thats not opening the borders, but its begs the question where would NZ have gone after that.
